I'm not really sure, but maybe they have their eye on newer Boeing products, or maybe they want to ditch the 757 so they can buy a bunch of RJ's and further reduce pilot pay. What's interesting I feel is that back when FedEx was initially considering the 757, one of the downsides to that jet was the amount of wingtip vortices produced in the takeoff and landing modes. Because of the inbound recovery and outbound launch windows in Memphis, on a nightly basis, the word was that this plane would require more time/distance between jets to avoid the aforementioned vortices. I guess that problem was solved
Oh well, it'll be nice to have the 757 if for no other reason than it's cool looking.

Plenty of small Non scheds and Charte outfits flying them in the US and in Europe.

United as a source of FedEx's 757's makes some sense, since they already have Airbusses and could acquire more. But I really think there might be something to AA selling more 757's with an eye toward modernizing their fleet in the coming years...

I couldn't see that either... but when you consider the embarassment the A380 has been they need to get some good publicity somehow. Maybe toss AA some cheap planes and get a big order would do the trick? The only thing that matters is the almighty stock price, right?
