The furlough should not be our worry, you should be reporting management flying per the EB.

Good thing you guys lifted the open time ban.

With them gone so long it must seem like they were never there.

The open time ban has been lifted by the union based on the costs associated with the ban to the company. It had reached the point where the pilots at UPS where actually saving the company money by not picking up open time or accepting JA. The union currently retains the right to implement the ban again at any time. They notify the membership after the bid packages are distributed and prior to the bid closing . The company has to decide how they build the bids without any certainty on how the union will respond. This in no way indicates that we have or will abandon the pilots who are laid off.
Currently the line at the training centers are getting long due to a few equipment and displacement bids that have occurred.

I don't care what the current powers to be say, I personally couldn't look myself in the mirror and pick up open time with guys on the street. As far as the line at the training center...........I gonna call total BS on that. The training bid that just closed has guys starting training at the beginning of August. Doesn't sound like a very long line to me. At best recalls are done.

Sorry you feel that way. The union has a very good pulse of what should be done when. To date the membership has followed the the direction of the IPA within the confines of the contract and the law in support of our laid off crew members.

Ok, let me guess the month before peak to after peak, no open time pick-up. Big surprise there, way to catch the company off guard. Oh BTW they have the right to use the Managers as they see fit during the same period and they are not limited to MEF. I trust that the EB is doing the right thing but I feel for my brothers and sisters that are sitting at home just like me wishing that they could fly again for big brown.

The change in the open time /ja position by the EB is keeping more people on the property at this point. The IPA cannot control the freight volume nor stop the upsizing of the fleet .

You need to explain the above quoted statement to me. How does giving the green light to pickup open time (basically work overtime) keep more people on property? UPS has the same number of pilots flying more block hours.

But, it does keep the Hogs who feed at the open time trough happy. Remember the union election is just around the corner and furloughed members can't vote but the Hogs can.
