Line Numbers for Management Pilots at UPS?
#21
How on earth are they going to stop you guys from sending cards anonymously to the NMB? What is it that they are so afraid of?If they really thought it was just the hot air of IPA politicians, they wouldn't have even given a moments thought to the issue or have called this meeting. Best idea if they want to keep you guys out of the IPA? Start treating you guys with the respect due your position.

I agree, but the bottom line on all this is that they will oppose any effort on the part of management to send in cards, or any effort on the part of the IPA to get us onto the line. You know what money and lawyers combined can do to any timetable. The IPA might make an effort to take management to the line, but the company can tie it up in court for a very long time.

I expect that they will, just like all companies do. The bottom line is that you guys can't expect the IPA line pilots to carry all the water for you on this one either. If the group of managers wants this to happen, some of you are gonna have to grow a set sooner or later and do some work for yourselves.

"The UPS Management Pilots had an emergency meeting yesterday and they were told that UPS is forecasting it will not be able to deliver up to 100,000 packages on peak day. This is the best case scenario, if there is weather or any other delays that equate to as much as an hour the number will be higher. The managers are being told they will be flying 30% more over peak and that they will not be getting a pay raise next year (not sure if that is true or not.) The main reason for the 100,000 shortfall is due to the fact UPS secured 31 charters for peak when they really needed between 40-45. Also the fact that the company has delayed hiring pilots and they are so far behind they are violating the new working agreement left and right in the next 2 months to make service. Excellent long range planning brown!!"
If true, sounds to me like the managers need representation. Depending on who wins the IPA Presidential election, I believe this is more than just election talk. YMMV

Heard from some sources in the IPA that they are considering putting mgt. pilots onto the seniority list (if the are successful with the NMB) by date of hire if senior enough to hold the seat they are in (mostly captains). If not able to hold a captain seat by seniority, they would be slotted into the list and would be given seat protection.
