FDX PVG deviation?
I have a trip next month with a mid-trip deadhead from nrt-pvg.
I am considering jumping on us rather than taking sched Asiana thru icn. Does anyone have any info on deviating into pvg? For example, how to set up my own ground transportation so that I don't crowd the operating crew in their car... Any idea what the cost of limo would be to the hotel? I will have plenty of bank if I deviate, just wondering how to pay for a limo or taxi and if the ramp might help coordinate.
I've looked in the briefing guide, but more often than not, the information in that has been incorrect.
Thanks for any help!

If you haven't done it yet, try the Maglev into town, and then a short ride on the subway to the hotel. E-mail the ramp and they've got all the info. Very cheap and a pretty interesting experience. Here's a couple of previous threads with info:

also - NRT Hilton has shuttle bus (FREE) that will take you to the airport terminal where you can meet the FDX crew outside security - go through with them & out to the airplane with them for your jumpseat.
NRT Ramp will coordinate for a separate taxi pickup for deviators, but now they charge you (even though you have a scheduled pickup) - I recommend just take the free shuttle bus - it's no hassle & only takes about 10 minutes from hotel to PAX terminal
NRT Ramp will also change your shore pass to reflect going out on the jumpseat vs. PAX out.
Email them with the details & just tell them you'll get your own transport to the airport terminal & they'll cancel the taxi.

Thanks
Thanks guys...
Thanks for the links to previous posts... I appreciate it all...
I didn't know about the nrt van. I will check that out...
I am trying to figure out how to arrange transportation in pvg to the hotel. I would rather not do the bag drag to subways and on sidewalks in shanghai since I have plenty of bank and would like to use it. If deviating and jumpseating, I prefer to use my bank money and not infringe on the operating crew's space and comfort.
I know icn will switch the car to a van and I think that's a bum deal for the operating crew to be switched from a comfortable ride to a usually uncomfortable van for such a long ride. I know most guys don't mind, but I don't think deviators should change transportation...
Thanks again. Happy holidays!!

Be sure to email pvg ramp to let them know you will be deviating in. They will email you to see if you are going to be arriving as scheduled or deviating. Just reply to the email. They put you on a list with immigration. Also, don't forget the chop letter.
I'm sure that you could arrange a separate car at the Hilton desk in Pvg and pay with your corp card.

From there, take a cab. Caution, don't fall for the scammers who offer to take you "OFF the meter." Go to the taxi stand and get a taxi who will charge the meter fare.
That will save you the whole block and a half of sidewalk that you'd have to drag your bags if you go for the whole subway experience.

Just contact the Hilton Directly....They will arrange transportation for you free....also, you MUST email the PVG ramp and inform them of your intentions. That way immigrations knows who you are.....otherwise you WILL sit in the penalty box for an hour or two. The reason is your visa is a crew visa only...
And the Hilton in PVG will usually not even charge you for the extra day!
Have fun
