More weight on them.
They should put the aft on the fuselage, like the DC9/MD80 family.

Missing either of these it would not be a 727 and would have to certified as a totally new type of aircraft, not just a mod. You ever see any 2 engine FE-less 727s flying?
No, but I saw a 727 with winglets the other day.

The guy at the Noodle Shop in Narita told me we were just gonna shut down number 2 once we got to cruise and restart it on descent, to avoid the whole messy recertification thingy . . .

I have operated 2 of the Air Canada "No FE" DC-8's as an FE. They put a lot of the switches overhead of the FO, however the fuel panel was still in the back. It was never certified in the US.

Sort of a poor man's 777. Maybe they could do the same with the MD-10? Thoughts?
Piece of cake. They will bolt right up and aircraft systems will fall into place.

It was a great airplane. Boeing and the FAA killed it with unbelievable aging aircraft inspections.

It was flown in test with a "ductless" fan jet engine in place of engine #3...

and MD-80-series was also tested with one also, by GE I think....

Not conversion, just engine developement test/demonstrators

And changing engine types is a STC-thing..... Changing number of engines is ground up re-certification.....it'll NEVER happen.

I just heard they are putting a MAGLEV in place across both the Atlantic and Pacific.

This is true according to the Electrolux salesman that just stopped by my crash pad.
He said the only problem with it so far is that it is powered by unmanned dirigibles that 3D print the helium that they use.

So this'll be happening in a couple months instead of a couple weeks?
