Delta de-hubs MEM

... I wonder if their decision to make this announcement now has anything to do with the announcement that the DOJ v. American Airlines case is being fast tracked this year.
I bet they want to help bolster the feds case by proving that airline mergers cut flights and close hubs....

I would think the remaining carriers would all be for further consolidation in their industry
FEDEX and UPS surely enjoy our little oligopoly!

Like everything from house cats to global warming, it is all Southwest's fault.

In my opinion, it is a win either way for Delta. If the US/AA merger doesn't go through, US and AA will be smaller/weaker when compared to the Mega Carriers of UAL and DAL. If they merge, then there will be further capacity reductions and more ability to control ticket prices.

I'm still having trouble with this 15:30 duty day! Hopefully it was a double crew doing a single leg and they just didn't manage their pre-sleep and enroute sleep very well. If this was a crew of 2 or 3, I'm hoping somebody submits a POR, a Fatigue Report, an FSR, ASAP Report, and lets the PSIT/SIG know which pairing it was on so it can be disputed in the future.
CRM is an integral part of extending past 13:30 (internationally) to FAR limits. The Duty Officer may really really want you to move the freight, but working to exhaustion is wrought with disaster.
'Course, that's just my 2 cents ... during these times of uncertainty and ...

Good job Duty Officers
In one of the cases we diverted to Fairbanks after a long flight from Asia. Quite frankly we were eager to get back to ANC. I sort of got the impression that if we'd told him we were tired, our duty day would have been over (as it should be).
All-in-all, I generally find the Duty Officer's to be responsive to our needs and reasonable desires. They seem to have enough authority to get things done ... I'm glad they're there
