Thanks for the reply, MD.
How soon can new hires bid out?
My goal would be moving to ANC (AK is my home state) but I have a feeling I'd be a candidate for SDF assignment due to steam guage time and prior FE experience.

Won't be long. ANC is very junior. The last system bid tha closed on Dec. 1, they allowed crewmembers who would be off probation in March (9 months on the job) to take part in the bid. I think anyone in that catagory would be able to hold ANC.

Speed--I'd bet my paycheck that if hired here you'd be in ANC initially. We are having a very hard time getting folks to go there--especially on FO pay.

Speed - My friend is in training right now and I can tell you that your previous experience is not necessarily the deciding factor in what you’ll be doing. There were 2 people in class who were 727 engineers in their previous jobs who both got fo slots (one is fairly young, the other one somewhere in the middle seniority-wise within his class). At the same time, several pilots without any fe experience got FE slots.
I think the ONLY time your background might play to your advantage (or to your disadvantage) is if you have any heavy jet experience – then you’ll probably be heading to ANC on the MD11 (or 747-400) So if you have that experience, you’re in luck as you do want to go to ANC, otherwise, it’ll be pretty much a lottery on what equipment and base you’ll get.
$1500/mo or so as i recall???
Correct, has to sign a 2 or 3 year contract, can't remember...
