Why not ask JVvZ, the 747 Chief Flight Instructor for a certain Royal airline headquartered in Amstelveen. He was so respected that management went looking for him to investigate (what was unbeknownst at the time) the crash that caused his own death.

This could have been worse. I am surprised nobody here has discussed the "twin just flew over us" part. I could hear it in the ATC audio.

I am surprised that ATC allowed anyone to land at any of the close airports until they determined where this heavy was sitting.

Maybe the fact that Jabara is an uncontrolled airport and ATC doesn't get a vote has something to do with it.

Of course. "Allowed" was the wrong word. Maybe ATC should have alerted traffic in the area. They should have been in contact with all in that airspace.

Not even that... Jabara lies outside the Wichita Class C airspace. Anyone landing there should have been on CTAF.

The sun rose (more or less) in the east this morning.

Did I get that one right?

Not if you're in Wainwright, AK .

Anyway, the recording provided was of KIAB tower. I am sure they notified Wichita approach of the situation, and that would be the facility to make announcements to traffic in the area.

It is quite possible even a guard transmission was made, but was not included on the recording.

Sadly, no. The sun remained in its position (relative to itself); the eastward rotation of the earth merely made it appear to an earthbound observer as if the sun "rose"....
