Deviation travel

Chrome didn't work... I'll try something else. I was able to cancel the ground transpo via the upcoming hotel page but Mem says that's not good enough. They say they still paid the GZ-HKG van ride not taken and won't honor the deviation. Sure be nice if they stopped changing the page layout and the links actually worked. I'll just call scheds everytime now.

I see that as well. I've been in lengthy emails exchanges with the I.T. guy that handles this. It's a mystery to him. I've sent screen shots, etc. I have to believe it is a browser issue where they created this web page for a limited number of browsers and they just simply don't want to bother to make it universally functional.
I wonder what's next. Not like they'll give us advance warning.
If you guys see something please say something so I'll know.
I'll go back to reading about how they hear us and mountain climbing now....

I have been able to purchase tickets related to a non DH trip with the new system (i.e. a ticket from home to domicile to start a trip using extra travel bank - rather than a ticket to actual deviate from scheduled DH travel). It worked exactly like trip manager used to.
If you select "view trips" and then select "view" next to the trip you're dealing with, you'll see each leg of the trip. Next to the first and last legs there is an orange "select" button. If you click on the one next to the first leg (for example), it opens a new page with a section at the bottom that allows you to put in information for the ticket you want. If you fill it in, it will give you a list of tickets on the day you specified for travel. You can then select the one you want and purchase. The email from global travel shows up in a few hours and you have a ticket.
I've never tried to buy a deviation ticket with the new system, so I don't know if there's a way around actually having to deviate. But I can say from several personal experiences that you can easily buy tickets on the front or back of a trip using this system without calling GT.

I just tried this, but with a front end DH. I wanted to see if I could JUST buy the deviation ticket without having to deviate. It was all looking good until I hit SUBMIT for the ticket I wanted to buy. It booked me the ticket but also deviated me on the front end without me ever checking the boxes to deviate. Not what I had in mind!

Though they seemed to have fixed many things with the website now. Finally.

I'm pretty sure you could have selected the flight on the back end of the trip (assuming no DH there) to buy your ticket for the front DH. This would work the same as the scenario I described (that your replied to) where I had no DHs on the trip. Initially, the system will attempt to force the date for the tickets to match the date of your last flight on the trip. You just change the date to the one you want, fill in the rest of the ticket info and buy it. Since you are not selecting the legs with the DHs, it will not deviate you on those when you submit. It will give you some kind of warning message that the ticket date doesn't match (I can't remember the exact wording). You ignore the warning and submit and the ticket gets purchased without a deviation of your actual DHs.
I haven't done that exact scenario, but I'm 99% sure it would work as I described. I say that due to one other issue I've encountered. The "select" options at the front/back legs of the trip (DH or no DH) appear to be one time use only. I bought a ticket using the front DH selection and deviated during the purchase process. My plans changed and I cancelled my ticket using the on-line option (which is nice - one less call to GT). When I attempted to purchase a new ticket in the deviation system, it would not let me select the front leg again. I had to select the back leg (no DH) of the same trip, change the date and submit as I described above and it worked. Maybe the "select" options reset eventually when the system registers the ticket cancellation and they can be re-used, but I wasn't patient enough to wait and see.
Anyway, there's a few more data points for dealing with this "improvement".

Unfortunately it has always been that way with this new system. If you choose the "select" button next to a DH leg in order to buy a deviation ticket, you will deviate that leg when you submit for the ticket.
