Hi guys, I'm fairly new to this forum and from what I gathered it seems like there area lot of negative things happening at UPS right now.
I am still not in a position to qualify for a position with you guys but I was just curious as to how obtainable is the MIA base and what year is the most junior FO, as well as what is your projected retirement rate in the next 5 years?
I hope things turn around for you all

About 40-70 retirements per year for the next 5 years. It picks up after that. I would not expect any hiring other than for attrition.
UPS is in contract negotiations with the pilots now.
The pay is good, but most would be better off getting hired where there is upward mobility e.g. AA, Delta.

Thanks navigatro,
I am definitely looking at other airlines but I was just curious as I live in Miami and being based at home is always better. I would be happy to get out of a
my regional and on with a major carrier as soon as possible due to the great amount of movement going on but other than networking and going to a few job fairs I came to a conclusion that there isn't mucho can do to control their decisions as to who will get hired and when so I'm staying optimistic and keeping my options open

Only 5 UPS captains were born in the 1970s and they are all 1970 or 1971.
Only 62 UPS pilots are younger than 40 years old.
Junior Captain is a May 2000 hire. Real captain, not so called "management captains."
I'd expect the remaining furloughed pilots to be recalled in May and hiring this summer. Don't come here planning on upgrading quickly, but, with that stated, the next new hire will upgrade in 7 fewer years than the last new hire from 2007. Thankfully we have good FO pay and no B scale like FedEx.

LilJ...
Fedex does not have a B Scale. They have equipment pay like the vast majority of other airlines. If you want to learn what a B Scale truly is, talk to some AA guys when Crandall was around...he started the concept.

Call it what you will. My point is that FedEx guys make about 30-50K less a year than we do for flying the same trips to the same cities on the same airplane.

Good info. Your spot on with the pay scale!! Fact of life at ole Brown!
But their uniforms are not crap brown!!!

If I were a FedEx contract negotiator my first point would be that FedEx pilots flying hub turns in the 757 are making substantially less than UPS pilots flying hub turns in 757s. Conversely, UPS, I'm sure, is making that point to the NMB and IPA as well.
I've never stated how much I make for the record. I've stated that more than half of UPS FOs make more than $200k/year. That's I for comes from the union.
