FDX nasty ramp crew room

You might want to add this to the suggestion box when filling out your POR. There are a TON of fairly new, very good condition, recliners that are in two rooms that adjoin the AOC cafeteria eating area. These recliners were put there last year as a temporary recliner room when the new sleep rooms were being built. They are rarely used now. As a world leading shipping company, you'd think it wouldn't take much to move these out to the outstations. I may be thinking out of the box too much though...

Some one could be an ombudsman for the pilot group. Or they could put up a poster with a vision statement.
Some one could support us as one of us in areas like KCM, accepted fairs, disputed pairings, fatigue, food, etc or they could be the back pack/parka police.

I recently wanted to compliment the consistently above average support I get from the IAD Ramp. It's nice when you can count on a lineman, wing walkers and stairs when you arrive (no matter what time of day). I don't think that happens by coincidence, rather I suspect it's good Management.
The Ramp Manager wanted to know what they'd done wrong when I asked for his email address. I guess they don't get very many compliments?
PLEASE PROMOTE THAT GUY AND SEND HIM TO MEM!

Sending a RAMP manager to MEM is worse than getting a demotion for most of them.
All the furniture, computers, scanners, radios, etc at the outstations are hand-me downs from MEM. If an outstation needs new equipment, MEM will buy new equipment and ship their old stuff to the outstations.
If you think the pilot rooms are bad in the outstations, go look in the ramp employee rooms.
Many moons ago, flight ops shipped new computers and monitors to most of the US ramps to replace the old crappy ones in the pilot work stations. At the vast majority of locations, the ramp manager (or similar) replaced his crappy computer with a brand new one courtesy of flight ops' budget. Apparently, having the best computer in the whole building dedicated for use by the pilots and sitting idle for 95% of the day was too much to bear. The prima donna pilots upgraded from a old crappy computer to a much newer crappy computer. I have no doubt that if flt ops bought new furniture for the Philly (or anywhere else) pilot lounge, it would find it's way into conference rooms and offices in short order. And so it goes....
