So why even bother with a vacancy if you're going to do an excess with +1 in all seats?
A contract might help solve their overmanning.

Personally I like the system the way it is. While it may be cumbersome for the company to get the right manning, I wouldn't want to give them the ability to move pilots from aircraft "A" to aircraft "B" without a system wide bid in which everyone can participate. I think seniority protection is the name of the game and that is what we have now.

Be careful of unintended consequences...

Would be nice if we had an idea of how many seats in each position they are overmanned in the bus and the MD-11. Any guesses?

My thoughts exactly...why not wait for the excess - especially if you want a move package. I'm waiting.

Remember, bid what you want to fly!

But don't expect any information regarding what airframes will do what, like the number of flights to ANC that will be eliminated, until after the bid closes or you're in training. This is because we can't have the pilots knowing what's going on. If anyone learns too much they might not have to beg for meager scraps of information.

Just close your eyes and hope for the best.

Regards,

Crew planning (or relevant executive office)
