Yep a vest isn't going to keep you safe, knowing where you are might. Look around on the ramp, it is easier see the coffee detained shirts than the vests.

It looks pretty familiar to Navy carrier pilots: “Organized Chaos.”

First pre-flight on 727 Engineer IOE was delayed almost 30 mins after tug driver hit a chock, fell off, split head and was laying unconscious in a pool of blood.

When I first got here I was told that Navy carrier guys seemed to think the ramp was normal ops, Air Force guys just didn't watch, and anyone with a safety background had their head explode!

Plus one. I just hope the Company takes good care of the family. I know in the past they have bent over backwards to help. My sincere condolences.

LAG is correct.

A vest is just visual eye candy. It won't stop a tug from running into you. Whats needed is a ramp stand down, tell the monkeys on the ramp to slow down a bit.

Very sad. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

According to a myfoxmemphis.com story, the father says Fedex is covering the cost of the funeral. The video from the story states he was hit by some type of loader. The young man was going to use this job as a foot in the door for an aircraft mx job.

The reflective vest obviously isn't going to save you if you get hit. I think the idea is that increases your visibility so that the tug driver, fuel truck, loader and everyone else has a better chance of seeing you and AVOIDING you. It's just one part of the overall safety program...

I'm in the camp that is surprised someone isn't seriously hurt every night...or at least every week. Very sorry to hear about the loss of this young man. Condolences to his family
