The first step is done by the computer, but they have to massage the results by hand. On the 2nd Practice Bid, for example, the computer put 23 Captains in Cologne, but The Company only wanted to scare us with 10, so they manually backed out all 23, and manually put back 10. Trouble is, they didn't honor seniority in that process, and consequently the 2nd Practice Bid was flawed, i.e., invalid. Interestingly, the CBA doesn't specify the practice bids have to be accurate, and it doesn't require that they inform you of errors. If you feel like you're the victim of an error, it's up to you to point it out and hope they'll fix it.

Trust them. They'll do it correctly. And when they fix your problem, the next 10 guys that are affected negatively won't even know it, because that won't be published.

My question is "Why even have 'practice' bids?" Fill out your bid sheet with your preferences. Company processes and issues the results. If there's a flaw, they fix it.

Seems like an awful lot of work to expend on "practicing." But as Alan Iverson said, "Practice? Practice? We're talking about practice here."
