Got an email from a UAL OFFICER on this issue. AND we had our Fdx legislative affairs rep and an MEC officer bad mouthing Joe Dp for what ever reason...hmmm Stratton for president. AGAIN.
Bottom line is Fredo needs to go. Sean McD should also, but every 6 months they(the MEC) says he needs to go, but then he says I'm sorry and they keep him.
Supposedly a conference call on this very subject this morning..
You want details PM me... Many to be had.

I noted after this process played itself out in the late 90s that a lot of nice pilots were slow on the uptake. That is, those pilots are the kind of loyal employees that you would like to hire for your own company. But good hearted people get walked all over sometimes. The pilots that have seen management's behavior and said this scenario would play out were considered outcasts a while back. Some that predicted this were voted out of the MEC by fellow pilots. Others, on the MEC, remained in the passive group just certain that management would be different this time. We're all to blame.
And as an aside, you said "This will cost the company huge". I would have to ask, how? Actually, it's saving them a lot of money that gets offset by some degree of (temporary) additional overhead associated with paying draft, overage payments, etc. when crews are forced to stay on a trip a little longer. But I submit THEY have run the numbers and they're satisfied the continued negotiation delays will work in their favor. And Tony C. is correct about hostages. Someone will decide that management should pay for the disrespect shown and that person will be hung up for everyone else to see. That too is a page from past management history. Again, there is nothing new in management's behavior. And our behavior is so predictable that, in their eyes, they had no other choice but to play this out as they have.
You've learned a tough lesson. You'll know better next time. But when next time comes, there will be a lot of new pilots that haven't seen this act and then THEY will be the guy you worry about - the nice guy that wants to believe management just wouldn't treat him/her with such disrespect. The entire cycle will repeat itself yet again.

Big freaking deal, there is internal strife amongst some career ALPA workers? I am sure they had good reasons to not want JD in that job but who cares anyway?
I think the MEC has more on their hands to worry about than back room national office shenanigans, cause that never happens at a National boondoggle convention.

2Cylinder,
I think what HKFlyer and Tony C are getting at is that these are the same folks who are extolling the virtues of unity and mutual support and yet they (possibly) aren't practicing these virtues. It goes back to something I learned many years ago..... Leadership by Example.

It is funny that the only thing this MEC can unanimously agree to is supporting a political candidate. So, please, get your (MEC/operatives, not yours gcass) little witch hunt over and get back to the difficult decisions.

I agree the negotiating team speaks for me. It also is beneficial to know what is being thrown at the wall so we can save the less informed from themselves.
I just scanned the latest and I really liked that the company was mad we would not discuss PBS. I also was amazed that they thought an increase from 7% to 16.5% on the B fund in exchange for our A fund was a great deal and they are decidedly baffled we did not go for it. Talk about out of touch with reality.
There are some nice areas already TA'd but mostly the same stuff that came out last week from the NC. Lots of fixes to the small irritants. I still forcast a bleak peak.
