Default FedEx/UPS Commutable?

Hello all...searched and found some answers, but going the direct question route. With FedEx and UPS hiring, how would a new hire schedule look like for about how long? Meaning, for both short and long term planning, how COMMUTABLE are FedEx and UPS schedules? Also...would be commuting from Boise, Idaho :-) Thanks!

As a new hire at ups you'll probably get based in SDF. Probably, no guarantees of course. Several of our guys commute from Boise. Some to ONT and some to SDF. It's definitely doable but commuting in general sux. For how long? Until you move. lol If you were to get based in MIA or ANC it'd be even more complicated. Good luck.

There are ANC based guys who live in Boise.

Most likely will get either the 757 or A300 in SDF as that appears to be the most junior aircraft doing 3-4 legs a night. Will sit reserve, week on, week off, 15 days a month, figure a full day of commuting before and after each week of reserve for 19 days total each month gone from home. Add in a day or two of getting bumped off jump seats and you now have three weeks a month gone from home.

We having fun yet?

Would not suggest commuting to HKG or CGN as a new hire at FedEx.

I don't think you'd get bumped off a BOI flight very often.

Ok. Here is the real gouge for potential new hires. All jobs suck at first, low pay, no seniority, learning a new way of doing things so unless this is your first job ever, just think back on all the other jobs where you were the new guy and that's how it will be at your new airline job. However, over time it will suck less and less but guess what? It's a job and it will always suck but they pay you, so you keep showing up. One day you will have had enough and quit/retire and that's that. Off days don't suck, so enjoy those. The farther you live from where you work, the more suck time you will have to endure.

It must really be tough for you to get up in the morning (on work days, that is )

Probably 60% or more commute. So to say it sux, obviously many do it. Because when you have your 2 weeks off or 4 weeks in a row with a vacation week or flying Intl, you want to be somewhere cool. Not Louisville.

But if you want to live in a dump and go for the Cash, live in Louisville. But most don't, so that should tell you something.
