Default Muv (fdx)

Hey, I just wanted to get people's take on whether flying MUV would be considered extra flying during these times of contract talks.

IMHO it WOULD balance out, at the end of the year you are flying your BLG and using all of your vacation.

Actually, I'm trying to get a little positive after this next month so I can go negative again at the end of the year. I'm trying to MUV a 16-ish hour trip so I can drop a 70+ hour trip later.

No difference then selling vacation back. But if you have 180 hours of vacation and you use 200 you certainly can't be faulted for doing 20 hours of muv.

I don't see the problem because at the end of the year (when they need you the most) you are knocking out a trip and end up negative for the year. Just my 2Ą.

Who says not to fly extra? That could be perceived as an illegal job action if you are told not to fly extra. Now, most of the "engaged and accountable" folks are enjoying as much time off with their families as possible and choosing to allow the company to re-evaluate their staffing goals and how many favors asked from the pilot group. Sadly, there are still many individuals helping the company justify being undermanned because they choose to work above BLG. Those are the individuals who tend to spend their layovers solo as many of the engaged folks have differing opinions from those individuals on what unity means.

LAG, I muv you, too.

Mod Note: things have been intense and stressful in the Forums; I'm just trying to do my share to lighten things up a bit.

It is because you keep visiting all of those other stressful forums. You should hang out in the serene cargo forum more often.

Selling vacation back is selling vacation back. Depending on the circumstances, MUV can be about as far from that as you can get, IMO. I am considered MUV in the same situation as Sluggo. My bank is already negative and I have 8 useless vacation days next month. A quick ~21CH MUV trip before next month would give me a positive balance and turn my useless vacation back into a scheduling tool, allowing me to knock out a ~90CH single departure line.

So, you think the end result in my situation is no different than selling back vacation? Which choice do you think the company would prefer I make?

Same thing here. I used 28 days of VAC in Feb (bid it that way last yr and had a Pay Only VTO for Feb - 168CHs) while out on Medical and used the rest of my VAC when I ran out of RSA/DSA (ended up LTD for 3 wks). My only other VAC period this year is an 8 day period in Nov. I have exactly a zero balance. I plan on doing 1 6CH MUV to get to positive balance, and then use my whole 8 days in Nov to knock out as much as I can.
