A large percentage of today's Delta pilots are former Northwest guys/gals - a group always ready and willing to fight for their pay and benefits.

What? You meant to say "not quite 2001 pay rates minus inflation. ..and minus a pension"
Correct?

DAL pay today from 2004 is over $380. And thats just the 1-2% inflation.
CPI calculator says $318 in 2004 equals $400.33 in 2015.

I think it was more about a third party (Sedgewick) being involved.

Not completely false. There was one trigger that would require validation--dr notes. A pain, but at least the company would cover the costs of a pointless doc visit. Oh wait, no they wouldn't. The second trigger required validation, in which a pilot would sign a release allowing a company AME to have access to your med records limited to the particular dates and illness. Which is still too much. Would that AME talk to the FAA? Who knows, it's enough that a portion of the company has access to my med records. For all the talk of HIPAA being honored, the release included the VP of flight ops.....who is not a doc. And of course, the triggers are number of sick days used in a rolling 365 day window, and rolling 36 month window.

There were other givebacks that people didn't like, but sick was a big one for a lot of people.

There was significant intellectual dishonesty throughout. It was not a 14% pay raise, it was an 8% raise followed by a 6% swap from profit sharing to hourly rates. Maybe the 6% was a good thing, maybe it wasn't, but it wasn't a raise. Saying the "highest rates ever" was true only in that 2018 hourly rates would be higher than in 2004, with no consideration of 14 years of inflation, loss of pension and health insurance.

The union really tried to push it, which from an outside pov (I'm new to airlines) seems weird. I expected them to present pro cons--an educational campaign. Instead it was a selling campaign. Maybe that's how its supposed to work?

The CEO making a statement that this was the best we could get--a rather unveiled threat--I think had a counter effect. It angered a lot of people. I don't think pilots as a group appreciate threats.

At any rate, 69xx pilots voted no, and there are likely 69xx reasons why.

For me contract 2012 was better than the TA, I voted accordingly. If parked under it for a few years, I can live with it.

Best of luck to you all

Agreed! Why many just look at payrates only is very myopic.

But even the Payrates were Low. $325 MINIMUM. Thats only $75 an hour LESS than UAL and DAL 2004 numbers in todays dollars.

Thanks to the Delta membership for NOT voting for their TA!
I hope when ours FINALLY arrives we will take the time to thoroughly READ it and have the courage to vote it down if it fails to meet our expectations!

Sedgewick can't be involved. The records had to be maintained in house and not released without pilot permission.

The TA did not specify that. Just like the snake oil salesmen trying to say that LCA hours were for in base pilots only.

For the FDX guys, this was not turned down due to pay rates-- this was turned down due to all the concessions traded for meager pay increases.
