6 weeks later from the failed UPS hogan and I'm in the pool at United, with an interview at Delta in 3 weeks. Guess it worked out ok!

Question for you all, if an opportunity arose at UPS next year, would you leave one of the above for it? I don't particularly care where I live, although I'll be in Seattle for the next few years because of an AFRC job. I do care about enjoying going to work. I also care about being furloughed/unemployed. UAL class around late Nov and they said during interview they expect to hire like 1600 over the next 2 years, so progression looks appealing. DAL already has a 500-600 deep pool with no plans to slowdown. Class date, if they hire me, probably not be until mid summer due to the pool size. Would likely commute from Seattle with DAL the first 2-3 years anyway, and SFO has been available immediately for UAL. While the pay and furlough protection are good at UPS, I'm curious what current UPS dudes have to say if they were presented the circumstances above.

Thanks!

A pretty good discussion on a similar subject right here..

You'll find many negative voices there and many of them developed those opinions for a reason.. YMMV

I know of 109 guys that would argue about the furlough protection at UPS. Go the first airline that puts you in class and don't look back. If you have a family, the night cargo business will get old in a hurry. It isn't the same as flying a C-17 overseas.

Go with the less pay and less Retirement $ and go the a Pax. Carrier. Freight Flying is Hard on one's body over 30 years. And the upward movement is so much greater. And you get Passes! even though Domestically they don't mean squat.
