Star check is still the call sign for USC flights (formerly US Check) who happens to be AirNet (previously owned by Bayside Capital who- as another poster mentioned- bought Flight Express). AirNet shutdown all but a few Lear routes 2-3 years ago and furloughed the majority of their pilots. Recently, Kalitta is running a rebranded AirNet II and flying Barons and Lears out of KSUS and KLCK where AirNet was headquartered for many years. Oh, and they're hiring

Sounds like GTA Air. No idea if they're still around and I never worked there.

A friend of mine flew a C-210 for Prompt Air back in the mid 90's. I believe they were based somewhere in IL.
Lindsey (sp?) from BUF or somewhere in WV or OH had some 310s. Word was that occasionally one would find some empty fuel pump boxes in the hangar that said "Mopar"
CASI (sp?) MU2's

Yep. It was GTA Air out of Denton. They are still around. Call sign is "Big D". They fly Bonanzas, Barons, and 402s. I never worked there but know a few who have. Good people. I believe that Baron was their only loss in something like 30 years in business.

Does anyone remember Tampa Airways? I flew 210's and every now and an Aerostar for them in '86 and '87. I actually enjoyed working there the majority of the time. I thought I'd struck it rich making $400 a week after a year of CFI poverty.

I think I saw recently that Airnet auctioned off their Barons and their vast cache of Baron parts.
One guy who bought one reported that while not pretty, it was very well maintained. He's in the process of restoring it.

All this talk about check haulers reminds me of a rather sad story from long ago. I had a friend who flew Aztecs for Sundorph Aviation (out of Cleveland, I think). He "borrowed" a company plane one day and was joyriding low over the Smokies with a buddy and a couple of girls when he didn't quite clear a ridge. All the people aboard died, but he had brought his dog along too and the dog survived and was returned to his family. This all happened in the early 70's when I was just beginning to fly. It was quite a shock because I thought he was the world's greatest pilot. After all, he had an ATR (yeah, I know it's called ATP now. I've had one myself for 35 years).
