Lodging is on you. Nearly everybody has been able to find something less expensive than a hotel, and this class is twice as large as usual. With the offer letter, HR sent out a list of rentals - I'm guessing it's built mostly from input from previous classes.

The last official communication I received before today says the company provides initial uniforms. You're only on the hook for it if you leave within the first year.
Whitout trying to sound like the forum troll, what do you mean by "made a conscious decision to be here"?

Not trying to kill your buzz, congrats on the new job and welcome onboard, I'm just curious....

I think he means in spite of our vindictive management the wants to be here. Sounds like a guy that I can get along with.

Do pilots on the 17 day on schedule travel home during long layovers. If so how does this work if you are still "on call"

We're not "on call" during layovers. It's very common for pilots to jump seat home on 4 day weekends if they live nearby. But if you miss your trip back inbound it's really bad juju.

It's a one-day deal. Mine took about four hours from start to finish, and that included driving to a clinic for the drug test. It's just the panel interview, sim eval, and then drug test. The sim eval is probably the longest part because you'll have about an hour to study the briefing material first.

It will be a few days before you hear one way or the other. I interviewed on the 31st and got the call on the 2nd.

I'll keep my opinions on that to myself for now, not least because I don't want to be "that guy".

The overall impression I got from the day 1 introductions is that this is a group who chose ABX over other options available to them. I didn't get the impression that this was a last resort for anyone, and it is a step up in one way or another. Speaking for myself, I left a relatively secure (if financially stagnant) job that I had been in for 17 years to do this. I wasn't sure I wanted to pay to go for an interview for a job that would cost me 50% of my income for a year. But once I looked into the company, its history, and its future prospects, I decided it was worth pursuing.

I will admit that the current upheaval was a bit of a buzz kill - it's the sort of thing that really turned me off of serious pursuit of 121 early in my career, admittedly to my own detriment. But I'm also not convinced that this one bump will put me out on the street. (Even if it does, I'll be more marketable than when I got here, and that was no small factor in my decision.) I believe the potential reward here is commensurate with the risk I'm taking.

My wife thinks this is a good move, too, so I must be doing something right!

The only factual info I have is that the upgrade class was cancelled. No reason given. I'm not reading too much into anything that goes on from here on out since the general consensus is that games will be played to ruffle the feathers of the group.
