ATI suspends hiring
#21
This may not be the place to ask about, but speaking of Abx on this thread, nothing in life is for certain, but what is the assurance of job stability for the next few years at Abx?, I'm trying to consolidate my personal decision to come here.
Is the actual hiring only due to amazon?
(Sarcasm is welcome)
Thanks

That was my point with the joke about my current employer (UAL) and the lack of yellow paint (DHL).

While only rumor at this point, it is said that ABX is going to give up some of the low hanging fruit we fly in order to better serve Amazon and increase their flying at a more rapid pace. In short the company (ABX) will make more money flying the Amazon routes instead of SAS, Aloha, etc. So, if you hear ABX is losing routes in the future...it's not totally true, in fact the opposite. The gain in long term more lucrative routes with a larger, more stable (if there is such a thing) customer will ultimately benefit ABX in the long game.

Actually, the 75 is victim of the emissions trading scheme over there. Should a carbon tax system ALSO be agreed upon by the EU the 75 will be dropped like a hot potatoe. Especially since a comparable Airbus doesn't pollute as bad (it's political you buy a bus you get credits on emissions trading) Another option is the next gen 73. Air cargo world or some other periodical did a story on that last fall.
OGM, guess you may wanna keep some of those opinions to yourself around the bar huh?

Go to aircargoworld.com and try a search. They just had a story about DHL doing a carbon accounting department. Plus they are making an option for users to see they're carbon impact (rofl). The story your looking for centered around the use of old past generation cargo aircraft.

Welcome to the ATI union/Check airmen trolling board. Then again you have to sale out in negotiations to become a check airman. The CCAI people that sold out had the dignity to leave. Guess you didn't get the memo.

No I'm just a peon with an opinion. Often not aligned with powers that be. It gets me in trouble A LOT!
I'm unable to verify the hiring freeze. MC is correct though we are losing some DHL flying and its not news to anyone.
Are we fat on crews? Actually we have pretty good coverage. We to date haven't gained any aircraft. Just traded off and gained another. Supposedly 4 to come some time. Would a loss of DHL with no other gain put guys on the street, yep. I have a hard time seeing that. ATSG has airframes coming if they want 76's we (ATI/ABX) can give 76 lift. Would they put guys in the street until things spooled up again. Well that's been the modus operandi for years so what do you think.
It's ACMI not UAL or AA or DAL... everybody can't fly for delta though. I'm lacking the orbital commander time myself. L8frt and 707 can't log their Aurora time for fear of rendition to a far off black site...so here we are!
