Good for those furloughed that this is the biggest pilot shortage in the history of our industry. Not the case in the late 80’s - early 90’s it the lost decade.

Unemployed pilots are downward pressure on pay and benefits. Nobody benefits when experienced pilots are on the street.
You also need to keep in mind that not everyone has the same lifestyle requirements as others and desires and others. For some, the ACMI world works well, especially if your family is established in a non-hub and you don’t want to commute to short haul flying and crashpad life.
