Default Eastern Laying Off

Got a message that Eastern has parked their 767’s and laid off the crews and instructors. I hope it’s not true, but that’s non-skeds.

Appropriate timing as some consider this the 32nd anniversary of the Death of Eastern Airlines 1.

Not true according to my friend there. They have cancelled future 767 classes, and let some 767 instructors go, as the focus is on the 777 for the future. But no current 767 pilots have been laid off, and the 767s are still flying.

Sad tough time for my family when my dad went on strike, at least the demise of EAL 1 got congress to ban corporate raiders like Lorenzo and Carl Icon in the airlines, both destroyed two great flag careers (EAL & TWA).

Indeed. I would not wish Carl Icahn on my worst enemy.

Glad to hear it’s not entirely true. Thank you.

Default eastern laying off

earstern just laid off a bunch of pilots. A black box was on their schedule without any expalantion and some are still waiting for the word that they got fired while others were already told.

Why are you glad that the bottom feeder of all bottom feeders is able to retain pilots and/or keep flying?

Because it sucks to get laid off from a job, no matter how bad it is.
