Info on Ryan International?

I'm so close to that--just one letter and 1 number off. With 3,000+ hours in the C130 I wonder if they'd give me credit for those two small changes

I'll try to answer some of these recent questions as best I can.
No, we did not hire street captains or DEC's. The DOD wanted us to have more 330 experience in the cockpit before granting a waiver from the requirement to operate a new type for one year before it can be used on DOD flying. The company, with an LOA from the union, was allowed to contract about 6 guys with this experience. Most of them were contracted through Airbus directly. The LOA is very strict in their use, limits it to only 6 months, and does not displace any Ryan crew members or affect staffing on the 330 at all.
Yes, unfortunately they did furlough 38 people out of seniority and against the CBA. They claimed it was short term, and the costs of retraining these crews and then the retraining of the displaced crews upon the recall would have bankrupted the company. Whether you believe that is up to you, the union is working with the company now on a solution, but a plethora of grievances are sure to ensue.
That is not true to my knowledge. When the DOD initially deferred it's decision to allow the 330 to be used on US military flights, it left us with a very large lease payment and no flying for the airplane. The contracting of the Airbus pilots, along with the 330's acceptance into the DOD flying, the airplane has finally started moving. It's my understanding that VA has been very understanding and helpful in this short term set back.
These are the facts as I know them. It sucks here right now, hopefully we will weather this storm and make it through to the other side quickly and return our people to work. But as we've seen, the ACMI carriers have really taking a beating in the last few weeks, us included!
