Omni to buy National

Btw, from the intel I've been collection 74's are all but a done deal but no statement from the company yet. It sounds like it will take a while for the legalese side of things to get them flying (i.e. FAA letters of intent, adding the type to our cert, etc.)

I heard that the "freighters" are going to come via purchase National Airlines.

Just curious, What would be a few things you would want changed in the new contract that would make you want to stay at Omni? Are there a couple things that would make a huge difference?

For me all things travel related need to improve... Business class international travel, being able to veto hotels that the pilots find unacceptable, shorter travel days, etc.

Trip rigs and higher per diem are also high on the list.

I would like to see Omni comply with the contract we have now. It does not matter what we negotiate if it is not implemented. Like Hunt said, scheduling, and travel need to be fixed. These two issues will always give us trouble because management says it's fine.

I just had an Omni Pilot on my Jumpseat...What this guy had to say about working at Omni had to be exaggerated...

This guy said a pilot had a family emergency at home while he was overseas flying and they wouldn't let him go home...he had to find his own way back home from the other side of the planet...No way that could be true!

Can anyone verify this?

Very true possibility. Hearing similar.

I have heard of this happening three different times. People left to their own means after a family emergency. Better have your affairs in order before going to work.

Rumors love them. Heard four in heavy check from Evergreen.

So this is somewhat true?...How is that allowed? Legally?...This can't be true. If so, I thought my airline treated their pilots like garbage.

I'm bored where I'm at and flying 4 or 5 legs a day with not a peep from any of the majors has caused me to look at airlines like Omni. I have 6000TT with 2500PIC Jet. Would this be competitive? What can I expect in terms of money and time off?. I've seen past posts, but I see a bunch from pilots that don't work at Omni anymore.(Must be a reason). How about from pilots still at Omni.

Ideally you should be single with no living relatives to work at OAI! We've had several crewmembers from both fleets put on bereavement leave overseas then abandoned.......One if our 777 guys was put on leave in Kyrgyzstan after his grandmother passed away and told to find his own way home! Travel department wouldn't even assist him in booking transportation............
Just another way management at "The Big O" lets us know they care!
