I was told there was only May and April dates. She didn't mention anything about the 10 but, I didn't ask either. Just stoked on getting an actual phone call. Hopefully people bypass the May date and some of us can get in sooner.

Anybody in the may class? Just curious who all will be in class with me? See who's driving etc?

I am in the May 10th Boeing class. Not sure if I'm driving or flying to Tulsa yet.

Sounds like lots of poolies on this board. Anyone have any info on new calls for interviews? I noticed they took the link off the main OMNI employment page, but luckily someone linked to it here. So I shot off a resume to them. What about some current competitive mins? Mine are ATP License, 4600TT, 3600Turbine, 1100PIC, 0TPIC Hopefully I didn't miss the boat to make the jump from XE. I know there are a few alum over there. :)

Way2Broke 04-01-2011 04:48 PM

A friend spoke with them today at the Vegas job fair. They have slowed down (not sure if that means stopped) interviews until the training is caught up some. They are still in need of more crew members, but it sounds like they don't want people swimming in the pool for too long. They also said a internal still goes a long ways. While not the longest line at the Job fair, there was still a line to talk to them today.

Just passing along some of the details that were passed along to me. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info! Yeah I just found out about that job fair the other day. I wasn't really paying to much attention. Kinda kicking myself over that. On the other hand, I have been focusing finishing up my BSBA. So....any XE guys mind walking a resume in? hehe

BARRELL RIDER 04-04-2011 09:52 AM

Any recommendations for getting noticed by Omni. I have been applying for 2 years but no response. 9600 TT, 1700 PIC, all RJ.

Keep trying. I sent my resume in about once a month for three or four years before I finally got a call. I didn't have any internal recommendations.

In my case it was a case of "squeaky wheel gets the grease". I guess they got sick of looking at my resume and finally gave me an interview.

I started sending my resume in May last year and religiously sent them one twice a week through January and got the call in mid January. No internal rec., 3800TT, 1200 turbine PIC, keep sending it until your fax machine breaks or your computer crashes. Persistence , persistence, persistence, and then some.

Hey Guys

Do you guys know the address to send in resumes, or does it have to be during a hiring window? The one on the website keeps rejecting me.... hopefully its not a sign.

Thanks

I applied once via the 350 ad and they called me... never flown anything bigger than a 145 or flown more than 3 hours non stop.

When did you send in your stuff?

useless 04-07-2011 12:38 PM

January or early February, I think. The interview dates were from 1-3 of March I think.

I didn't end up going after talking to a couple people that work there... I had an idea what it is like but I don't want to go somewhere based on what I hope their new contract will bring and the fact that they might lose the home basing. Not that they would have hired me. For the comparison, I have been sending things to Atlas, Kalitta, and keeping an eye out for lucrative contract work.

Those of you that have the disk for training , I have a Mac and I know they are stating we need a windows based laptop computer. The disk and files on it work with my mac. Anybody else using Mac and know how to run windows on
It? Thanks!

NightIP is a hardcore Mac nerd and will likely be able to answer that question.

I am looking for a update on the IOE bottleneck? Has anyone else heard anything about June / July classes?

Hetman 04-13-2011 03:28 AM

I talked to a guy who just finished Boeing sim.

He said he'll be sitting home 3 -ish months waiting for IOE. According to him, many of the Boeing check airmen bolted to the 777 which Omni is bringing aboard, resulting in a lack for the 75/76's. Once the new cadre of check airmen is trained up things should begin to move.

Last I heard (on this thread), some mid-Feb interviews have been called for a mid-June Boeing class

LIOG41 04-13-2011 10:52 AM

I believe week of 2/14 have been called for June 21st class dates. That's the latest from what I have heard.

I just talked to a friend from the October class, and they're just getting into IOE now. Nothing happens quickly here. :D

qxbuzzard 04-13-2011 01:12 PM

Hey Night,

What all did you review while waiting for IOE? I have been sitting since mid Feb and am reviewing things, but any info would help....Thanks

I just did Aerosim freeplay mode a couple times a week to keep up to speed with flows/profiles. I also did the daily grind every so often to keep my head in memory items and limitations. I know it's really dry reading, but it's also a good idea to get your head into the LROM from time to time to keep refreshed on all that stuff (that oceanic checklist is really helpful for studying).

Doing just those things, I felt pretty good going into OE. Hope it helps!

RJtrashPilot 04-14-2011 12:06 PM

I'm hoping to be called for a class date soon. I don't care what plane I get, I just want to get started. I'll be just as content with the DC-10 as I would be the 75/76.

This waiting for a call for class is the worst. I interviewed on Feb 22 and I know someone that interviewed the week before me and is in the June 21st class. Hopefully, my interview date group is the next to be called for class!

Were next man, patience! It is tough, trust me, I know. :) I interviewed on Feb 17th and have not gotten the call yet, but I know someone else that interviewed on the same day that has. I was wondering if it might be worth my time to let them know that I can be available short notice? I haven't had any communication with them since the "welcome to the pool" email. Every time I get a strange number on my phone I get excited.

Not everyone from that week has a class date. I think they are up to part of the group that interviewed on Feb 17th.

qxbuzzard 04-14-2011 01:56 PM

I know how you guys feel except I am just waiting for IOE. I finished sim in mid Feb and am waiting. Congrats on getting on here. Everyone so far is very helpful and great whether it be instructors or line pilots that I have met.

Am I reading Omni's payscale correctly, $117 to fly a 777 ?

Without airing dirty laundry, I'll just say that it's being actively worked on.

If they can afford the lease and the fuel, they can afford to pay the pilots. Its up to the pilots too demand it.

the 2 777's are not leased -they are bought and paid for --
demands have been made contract being worked out -- will know soon

anybody hear anything on april 4th meetings?

WOW! Why don't you go back to the regional lounge. With that exemplary attitude you displayed, ten years from now you should still be flying your 70 seater round trip from say ORD-GRR, or some other combination. The Omni guys work really hard and deserve the respect of the rest of this community. Yes, I to am waiting on a class date at Omni and am looking forward to getting started.

I think he was just making commentary through a comparison about the low pay at Omni...yes, it is low. However, making light of that is not disrespecting crews.

BTW; Regional pilots work hard and deserve as much respect from the pilot community and you looking down on the short routes of regionals is hypocritical.

So, lighten up Francis.

NightIP 04-17-2011 10:13 AM

I've said it once and I'll say it again: It still beats regional hell.

Hetman 04-18-2011 04:57 AM

This regional captain, who made $104k in 2010, is swimming impatiently in the Omni pool and will take the first class offered as his ticket out of regional Hell.

So what? Do you want a cookie or will a pat on the back work for you?

Unfortunately neither is going to help. He likes to poke at the Omni pay scales. Check out his posts on the Omni L+G thread. Good luck to those swimming!!!
