A321?

So if Omni really does get A321s.. how many??
And more importantly, who's going to fly them??
Will there be hiring specifically for that aircraft?? Or will there be a bid and since most won't want to do it, it'll be junior-manned??

Omni’s A-321 is an inept management’s version of throwing spaghetti against the wall to see if it sticks. A hollow project with little chance of success, poorly implemented by a team incapable of practical ideas.

United’s “TED” and UsAir MetroJet come to mind.
Time will tell.

this ain't the place to be anymore. It used to be the best kept secret in 121. ATSG has killed the goose.....
go elsewhere

Before killing it ATSG stole the golden eggs. Then
they brought in DR to give the goose an agonizing death.
Agreed. Go elsewhere.

Where?

You say, "go somewhere else." (As if it's as easy as picking up the phone and offering your services to an airline and being immediately hired, lol)
But where would you recommend? If you've got a few years in at Omni, upgrade is sooner rather than later (hopefully) so re-starting somewhere else is not that enticing.
Atlas upgrade is reportedly 6+years .. ATI is quick but appears to have the same ATSG issues Omni has.. Western Global is probably pretty quick now that they've restructured, but it seems everyone warns against going there.

And no one seems to be able to answer the question of who's going to fly the A321s. If it's by junior-manning, I don't know a single person who'd give up flying a wide-body worldwide to fly a narrow body domestic for less pay.

United, Delta, American, etc, etc, you have left quite a few options off your list.

there is no longevity staying or going to Omni. The airline is way behind on investment for growth and ATSG is unwilling to make the financial commitments to be competitive in the industry. It is a perfect example of shrink to profitability and when it's been squeezed enough and no more profits can be made it will be tossed into the trash. Just like World Airways and American Trans Air, who were both leaders in the ACMI world until they were sold to large conglomerate type management entities. Come to Omni, get your big airplane experience and possibly upgrade, but your going to end up on the bottom of some other seniority list regardless.

That question presupposes that A321s will actually appear and will be certified.

Considering Omni’s current management, that is a BIG presumption.

we've had guys take street captain jobs at regionals that had bases where they lived. More than captain pay here right off the bat. They aren't the same as they were in the 2000's and 2010's. Regional captains are pulling $300k+ and their check airmen are over $400k in some cases. Trip rigs, duty rigs, and direct contributions.
we have none of that.

Who is your customer demanding A321s? That's the question you need to answer. Until there is a need for them, you won't be getting them. ATSG is not going to spend money to add that to your certificate just hoping that customers will appear.
