A pretty good system and common in the industry world wide.

New state of the art system in place, and everything is still done by hand and manually on pieces of paper like it was in the 90s. No online schedules, No online biding, No option to check in for your assignments online, blah blah blah. Not because the system doesn’t have the capabilities, but because they continue to play the games they always do. Buy an excellent system to help save cost and be more efficient, but use it as a nice paperweight.

Looks like Miami Air will be interviewing soon. Not alot of current info on the company. Would any currently with them care to share the current take on the company? And, if anyone interviewed with them last go around, would be nice to hear about that also.

We're in negotiations and it does seem to be moving forward, albeit slowly. We actually had a CA leave, and they put 2 guys thru CA upgrade. Lots of turnover in the bottom half of the FO list with guys continuing to leave for greener pastures.

This isn't a bad gig solely from a QOL perspective if you want to live in South FL and be home a lot. Here's why. You get 12 "Guaranteed" days off a month, which because of how they build the bid lines, it's fairly easy to get 10 of those as a contiguous block off. Most of the trips are 3 or 4 days long, with a couple days of long-call standby (11-hour callout) in between. They might use you for short-call on those days - or not. Plus you have to get your 30-hr break every 7 days, which is easier to give you at home between those short trips. Looking back over my schedules for the last several months, I've averaged 12 days on the road per month - meaning 18 days at home.

Of course, maybe that's why our pay rates look like a part-time job. Cause it is.

The FAA is more than likely making them use both systems in parallel for a trial period.

I interviewed in April of last year and started in May. The interview is pretty straightforward: a timed 50 question ATP style test, SIM eval, an HR panel style interview, and a one-on-one with the chief pilot. Training lasts about four months, and you are paid your full monthly guarantee of 70 hours from day one.

As far as the company, I think its great if you live in South Florida. Lots of time at home and long stretches of days off in a row. You can also bid to spread the days off out if you want. The flying is varied, so it doesn't get boring. Lots of international flying as well.

Honest question, why does anyone want to go to Miami Air at this time? Flying 300-400 hours a year maximum (so the NG time is not that valuable). Upgrade time is much longer than any LCC/ULCC. Half the time is spent commercialling with at least one connection minimum in couch. Is it worth being based and living in MIA, however not get any DH pay? The company is not growing (shrinking in fact), breaking guarantee is rare. I am not going to go into the pay, that should be self explained. Benefits do not exist.

At this point stay at your regional, upgrade and move to 121 scheduled airline. I would understand if this was 2008-2011, but come on guys EVERYONE is hiring currently.
