Actually, there is a 1 May and a 1 July class. Since they did not have enough interviewees to fill the July class, I expect another round of interviews in late May or early June, but that is just a guess.

Good Day my fellow aviators, I am a current 121 regional FO with 2200TT. I am looking to put my stuff in to Miami Air once I reach the mins, i would like to get some input on what are the competitive mins Miami Air is currently recruiting, and what are the chances of getting an interview without PIC time. Any feedback would be appreciated. Best Regards

Once you hit 2500 I would say you have a pretty good shot at an interview. Especially if you live in South Florida.

Just out of curiosity, is commuting for this job an option. Can move to South Florida after few months though.

Commuting is really not an option. The first reason is they wont pay for your hotel during training so that would be totally on you for atleast 2-3 months of training.

The second reason would be that you have a 1 1/2 hour call out on stand by (11 hours on long call). Yes you could in theory get a crashpad, however you can expect long stretches of stand by days.

Third, 98% of the trips start with a commercial out of MIA/FLL or van rides from MIA to Orlando, Tampa, Punta Gorda, etc.

Having said that, there are atleast 1-2 people that commute. I am not really sure how they make it work but they do.

PS. Do NOT mention that you are planning on commuting in your interview.

I just sent in my application. Just got 2500 TT and currently at a regional. I actually lived in Florida and recently moved to Atlanta. I wouldn't mind moving back either.

Thanks for the information.

And few more question if you could reply?

Are they any travel benefits with the company? And how is the health insurance plan?

anthony210 04-30-2015 03:42 AM

Unfortunately, we have no travel benefits other than CASS Jumpseat agreements with all the major carriers.

The health insurance is decent but does not kick in for 3 months from your start date.

Is the three year training contract still in effect? I have been invited to interview but 3 years is pretty steep.

Yes, it is. It's 3 years for $18,000, prorated down for each month you remain here after completion of training. The company has allowed people to set up payment plans to pay it off over time after leaving. I don't know what the minimum monthly amount is that they'll do that for, but I understand it's reasonable.
