Flying hasn't stopped yet, but it will. Usually there is a months notice.
Who knows what the staffing needs will be. Right now they are at about 30% of what they need. 10 new hires but historically only 5 will be here when they finish training. Some quit in class when they get a better job. Some quit when they realize what a joke xtra is. Some fail.
The problem is with no flying they can't do IOE or consolidate.
I don't understand why anyone is seriously considering xtra. Go to a regional, get some time and go somewhere better.
The problems with xtra on a resume are: you don't fly that many hrs. Maybe 400 a year if you're lucky. More like 250 and no one knows who they are so you won't be recognized on your resume. It's real hard to break out of the supplemental black hole once you're in it. Best not to go there in the first place. Plus I bet you'd make more at a regional as an FO anyways. And work less.
I bet xtra will not be around by the end of the yr.

Hoover,
With all due respect, you are just a very ignnorat and very bitter person. All the information that you have provided here is not only false but mathematically inacurate.
First of all, for you to compare regional pay to the pay of Xtra is laughable at best.
Have you worked on a regional in the past few years? Have you even tried to back your facts to hard data?
You are on this website, so you clearly show some type of literacy using the Internet, so why don't you go ahead and use the pay scale calculator (you don't even have to do math!) and see how much a regional pilot makes in contrast to a charter pilot.
If you don't even know how to add, how are you even an airline pilot? I bet you are a just a bliss to fly with.
Second of all, you claim that a pilot at Xtra only longs 250-400 hours a year? Yeah maybe if you chose not to fly if you are a very senior pilot, however, facts are facts, and most of Xtra pilots are doing an average of 80 hours a month. So how does that equate to 250 hours a year? Again you lack basic arithmetic skills, my friend.
You seem like you been in the charter business long enough to know that contracts come and go, they aren't forever. Bottom feeding charters are constantly trying to swoop up business by selling themselves short and making the market worst and worst, but hey, that's just business.
Taking this into account, is Apple vacation the only contract Xtra has, or ever will have? How did Xtra survive all these years with out the apple contract? Please, enlighten me and humor me with your pathetic response.
You know what I really think it's happening, in my opinion?
You are possibly a very senior captain at Xtra, you were possibly just used to a very simple life style, you prolly had it all, and clearly that wasn't working for Xtra and hence it went down hill. You probably just want to come and fly one leg and make a nice salary and then go hide in your house, becuase let's face it, with all of the garbage you been spewing on this forum, im sure your personal life has got to be just as nice.
You now feel threatened by the fact that there's pilots willing to come here and have a base in Miami, and your home basing is looking more father and farther away.
You are trying to make this place look horrible because you know the more hey hire the less of a chance you have of going back to your quality of life where you worked 10 hours a month and got paid your minimum.
News flash my friend, those days are gone, more pilots will comehere becuase the regional world is far worst than your little head can even fathom.
Yes, this airline will become a training airline for 737 drivers and that's just the nature of the beast. So I want to give you a piece of advice, since you claim that this place will close in less than a year, I'm inviting you to get your seniority number at bottom feeding airlines like PSA, republic, TSA, or better yet, mesa (you seem like the perfect candidate) and go make 21.00 ah hour to fly a 79 seater jet, bringing home a whooping 1800 a month. Yeah since that's much more than you will make here, please go, doors are wide opened.

Dam well sed littlemadboy1 i interviewed at Xtra last week and i got a good vibe out of the place, everyone there was really nice and Mike the chief pilot told me that the reason they had to turn flying down was do to lack off crews also he was very straight foward he sed most pilots left because no more home basing and that some went to south west and other good places

Wow! You both clearly don't work there or are frank and mike who constantly bash the pilots to their face as they refuse to pay them.
Maybe there are no pilots to fly the planes cause frank and mike are trying to run it like sky king who they ran into bankruptcy.
I really like the personal attacks. Cleary you have no idea who I am. Basically it's the kind of tattic frank and mike would use since they are losing control over the pilots and see that the end is near.

Littleboy- your only post on APC is this one you attacked me on. If that dosent say damage control I don't know what does.
You're the only person I know who complained about getting paid to fly only 10 hrs a month. And yes I've had months the like that cause there was no flying to be done. Also you're the only one who dosent want home basing and say that pilots prefer being based in MIA. Ha thanks for the laugh. You're a joke.

Dc8,i interviewed at Xtra April 27 in the Coral Gables office with Mike Gray he is the D/O now,the interview was more like a casual talk than anything esle they have three classes now one in April going on now one in May 10 and another in June 20th company pays hotel in Mia you get $500 a week tax free until finish training they getting alot of pilots from Silver Airways, don't listen to hoover on what ever he says he is a Captain there and has a nice sweet little gig going on so he doesn't want to loose it thats why he talks so bad about his own airline so people wont go there,on my interview Mike told me he had to turn a lot off contracts down do to the lack of crews even a sweet europe contract but thats going to change with all this new classes, the company wants to grow, the apple vacation is not cancelled is on a probation stage said the CEO of Xtra he was on my friend's class 3 days ago talking to the new class.Sky king is on the Xtra certificate but is a diferent airline Mike said it would be sold or merge with Xtra, honestly man i got a good vibe from the place is not so bad like people say it is Mike told me in my interview if you want to fly a lot they will make you fly a lot if you don't want to fly alot you just fly your guarantee simple as that
