He got a beat down from a retired Delta pilot (.38 snub nose?). Video names the suspect.

All I know is if I'm carrying a gun and someone breaks in my car I'm not going to use it as a whip.

He was indeed, as they say, "seconds from disaster."

"He has no idea how fortunate he is to be alive," Haley said. "If my wife and sons were in the car, I would have killed him instantly. I wouldn't have blinked."

Could it be due to Ambien?

I've talked to people who were with people when they did things after taking ambien and they have absolutely no recollection of the events. Some were benign, some downright scary.

A bit of sensational headline.

Says the flight took off Monday at 730a on Monday after a 24 hour delay. This occurred 830pm on Saturday night with a scheduled departure of 730a. So the Hours, is 10+ hours to takeoff. So he could probably be within company policy (I'm assuming 8 to 12 hours).

The fact that he is a pilot is really not relevant to the story, in my opinion. It is just a sexy hook to get readers.

If the retired DL pilot was staying at a hotel, driving a rental car, and flying out the next day, where was he going to keep the gun?

Good thinking, Toledo!

When the man slumped over, Haley went for help. He ran inside the hotel but no one was there. When he came out, the man chased him around the car. Finally, the man got into the car and took off, crashing the car a block away.”

(Hilton Hotel at SeatTac and ‘no one was there’? Besides, if I had just been pistol-whipped and slumped over, and the Joey goes inside to get help, isn’t this the best time to drive the car away? Why wait for Joey to come back, chase Joey around his car, knowing he has the gun, and then steal the car?)

Discuss among yourselves (do post conclusions).

Checked luggage, perfectly legal (follow TSA and airline requirements for locking hard case, etc). Not sure about his destination though...He may have a permit for that as well.
