You guys kill me. Number 1, I'm furloughed so KCM means nothing to me---but yes, I do believe ANYONE who passes the SAME background check should have access. And, to go one step further, my background check was more stringent than most of yours as I worked for a DOD carrier.

Nice deflection by you, though---NOT. I'm still waiting for your honest, intelligent response if YOU or someone you know and love had been involved with this "saint" who "acted uncharacteristically." The silence is deafening and extremely disappointing. Will any of you stand up and be unpopular with the frat house?

Agreed, but doesn't explain away that he reportedly "reeked of alcohol".

Although we don't have all the information, if everything is true, then no I would not forgive him and I hope he is prosecuted.

The silence is deafening because most people are smart enough to wait for facts before they judge. We have seen multiple examples of initial news stories getting the information wrong in efforts to make a better headline.

And to disprove your belief that all pilots look down on all FAs, a few months ago there was a regional airline FA who was removed from a flight for allegedly consuming alcohol. I believe the majority of the posts were defending her saying it was out of her character. So just like that example, the people that knew the person involved stated their disbelief and the others who don't know the person wait for more information.

Isn't this place called the "Airline PILOT Forums", or did I click the wrong tab on my computer?

Used to have to be one to post here. Ah, the good old days...

Do you realize that virtually any every US airline is a "DOD carrier?" Why do you think I get the occasional DOD inspector riding jumpseat checking us out every year?

No one should get too focused on the meaning of 'background checks'. They only will find if you've done something dumb in your past, not your future. The CIA guys (think Aldrich Ames) who got busted for spying for the Soviets went through checks that would make ours look like just a cursory glance in comparison. They're a necessary part of the hiring process, but people read far too much into them.

Then perhaps you should stop reading theses forums (and thus hopefully stop the commenting/stirring of the pot/dramatics)

Interesting you list yourself as a victim on your avatar! That says sooo much about your character.

Let's be clear. You answered an ad in a newspaper to get your job! You are not on the same level at all when it comes to passing any opinions on pilots. Do what it takes to get one of these jobs and maybe you will be given some respect. Until then go feed the cats!
