As to unemployment.
Unless there are some provisions in the recent passed legislation
you get what the state you draw from sets up. In my experience it is a percentage up to a max cap per week.
IOW, let’s say your state pays 30%.. (I don’t know what NJ or VA pay) and your avg gross for the test period used was 1000/week.
You will get 300/week..UNLESS the max cap is less than that.
Drives me nuts when people, particularly guest commentators on news channels who are fully aware that they are lying, make statements about what a gravy train unemployment is.

New Jersey, btw pays 60% of wages, capped at $713/week. Add in the $600/week government unemployment and you've got $5200/mo on unemployment.

Normally you would be correct. But the Feds are kicking in an extra $600/wk on top on normal unemployment insurance through the end of July. With NJ benefits, that extra $2400/mo would be a raise for most FOs. For New Jersey based pilots, the payments would be MORE than MMG for a first- year captain.

You’re still EWR based is my understanding and provided we don’t give it up in a MOU should still be obligated rooms. We can opt to self report to IAD or take the deadheads from/to EWR. Which would make more sense to have IAD people do the flying if we are trying to save money. But I just press buttons.
