My understanding is even the Reserve guys are getting trips before they even start the day. We are short handed and a little understaffed so everyone is flying.

True. I heard there is a lot of open time. A new hire (dash) just passed his checkride and is already scheduled, in a couple days, for his IOE

The math doesn't support that, he asked as a new hire upgrade.
Any new hire upgrade into the Dash will never hold a line in the Dash.

FWIW: I'm a Jan 2016 hire, and currently hold ERJ CA about 30-40 percent up the ERJ CA list. I can hold a line, and am nowhere near reserve.
You also were in the first growth class and are already in the top 50%
How many FO's on property are senior to you? How many FO's on property are senior to a new hire upgrade?

Most of the ERJ line FO's upgraded this month. And since we are now very short on Jet FO's these guys will be forced to bid FO Lines in December, possibly January since their training is so backed up.
Jr Dash FO's aren't flying much.

The dash training department was a ghost town for a month or two, there is no delay in Dash training.

ERJ is a completely different story. The Jr Line flying Captain was in the July upgrade class. Im not sure if any August upgrades have even started IOE. August new hire FO's are just starting IOE now on the Jet.

There's a couple august jet upgrades that have started IOE, and a couple FO's as well. A bulk though are still waiting.

Training is VERY backed up. Some October new hires in the jet won't start IOE until April.

Can a CQF be forced to bid a line as FO? I thought they had the option to bid reserve CA or a FO line.

I doubt it will take that long....once we have the 8 new instructors up and going (which will be real soon) the cadre guys will be able to concentrate mainly on IOE. I also wouldn't be surprised if the new instructors will be given checkairman status sooner than what was expected to help with the backlog. While it will still be a delay for IOE, I think it will start to shorten.

Hope so, but....

They've already scheduled the sim slots out for our class into March STARTS. The last sim starts March 19th. That's three months off. Then IOE. That'll be 7+ months to get online.

As for the guy who said we are being paid... hahah. Well a) Since I am employed I would hope I am. And b) Min guarantee on FO pay doesn't go very far towards a mortgage and family.

Anyone have any idea how many new hires are being targeted for the November 28th start? As well how many Jet/Dash slots there will be? Thanks in advance.

There are 18 ERJ captain spots and 10 D8 Captain spots. Looks like 7 ERJ FO spots(This is according to the 30% gate in the contract, which they haven't been following). The awards aren't published so we don't know how many captain spots are unfilled.
