If someone ends with "It's not crazy talk." You might want to buckle up for a bunch of crazy.

If you are working at CommutAir, you might want to consider a change sooner than later. CommutAir will be the third airline to fold in the grand scheme.

And you're an expert on this matter how?

Wow you're almost worse than tallflyer. Maybe you guys should be friends and hang out. You both fit into the category of mouth breathing self proclaimed all knowing regional airline internet experts. I bet that makes you feel really good inside.

Here's an idea. Get off the forums and go outside.

There just can't be any other way. I'll bet the pilots over at GLA said the same thing this time last year. Now they are going to fold before July.

I have nothing against CommutAir and wish nothing but the best for the pilots there. But they have less than 4% of the United Express flights operated on planes that consistently have weight restrictions despite only having 37 seats. The controllable completion factor is consistently dead last among other United Express carriers. Today, less than 50% of CommutAir flights were on time and 14% out of 94 flights were cancelled. It's just not a good place to be right now.

How are they having Weight restrictions issues?? The Dash 8 300 series is much better then the RJ's and the 200 series should also be good to go. I know our 100's at PDT are basically 34 seat planes. But we ever rarely run into restrictions with our 300's.

Weight restriction is not based on the amount of seats. There are so many other facts that goes into it. Flight length, fuel on broad, fuel burn, etc. If the dash8 burned as much fuel as an RJ we wouldn't be having these problems and would always get to the destination below landing weight and with 37 pax. Yes, CommutAir is the smallest of united express. We don't have a large route structure like the other express and that's why if we canx flights, the percentage of canx flights is greater.

Every regional sucks and every regional has its problems. After all the C5 bashing lately, I feel the need to share my experience. My experience with C5 has generally been a good one. Home based for two years...until United dehubbed CLE. Spent less than 6 months on reserve as a FO. Held weekends off almost immediately. After being displaced to EWR due to the closing of our CLE base, never needed a crash pad as a line holder because of the company paid commuter rooms. Upgraded in a little over two years after bypassing a few months. Being on reserve again totally sucks, but I have buddies at places that will be on reserve indefinetly. Was also was given the opportunity to add "training department” to the resume.

C5 is a means to an end. It's definitely not somewhere you want to get stuck at, but a decent place to build some time and experience while having fun. We have healthy movement from the top, but just like everyone else, we are currently struggling to fill classes with quality candidates. No, we don't fly shinny jetz, and yes the airplane breaks and/or is weight restricted at very inopportune times, but as long as its not ”go home” leg, I don't let it bother me. I know plenty of guys that have had it much worse at other places.

As a former C5 CA Ile give my experiences (just recently left).

Basically C5 is a great little place to work. Make no mistake though, the company is having problems. Most of the folks that were in management that made life hell are not there anymore or have no influence on pilots. Worst regional to be an FA at.

C5 MX fell through the floor when United kicked us out of CLE. We moved our heavy check in 3 months. That is stupid fast (again because of United). Of course all the problems with MX surfaced because of that. We lost all of our experienced mechanics, moved to ALB (what mechanic wants to go there on our low pay?), and have been trying to recover ever since.

As far as the good stuff, the pilot group is amazing. Pretty tight knit. Of course there are the 1%ers. The Dash is a wonderful airplane. Ugly as sin, but a blast to fly and you can get away with murder in that thing. ICE and TS are no problem.

Just my $.02
