Quote: United has 110 max already scheduled for delivery by the end of 2023 and a total of 184 deliveries in the next 5 years. This doesn’t count the rumored big order that could be announced soon. These new aircraft will be added to the existing heavy delivery schedule. They have also announced plans to hire 3,000 pilots in the next 2 years. The lift will be there to do what ever the Willis Tower crowd decides to do.
Ok so your saying that based on a Bloomberg article, C5 is definitely getting 70 seat jets in the next 24 months. Keep dreaming!

Quote: you CLEARLY have no idea who Joe Merchant is, nor the history of his behavior. The man is indefensible, and deserves all the scorn you can possibly muster.
You said it before I had a chance to. Yep biggest sourpuss ever, trouble maker and all around loser at ASA/ExpressJet. Very unpopular with the old ASA pilot group. Joey you ever gonna give up those notes?

Quote: 50 seat work is what United has positioned C5 to do. Thin routes out of mainly DEN and IAH with a sprinkle of IAD.

There will be no scope relief from ALPA and it's doubtful United have a large narrow body fleet increase any time soon. If some miracle occurs and it does, Mesa and Skywest are much better positioned to take this work.

In 5 years time who knows but C5 is not getting 70 seaters anytime soon. Please stop thinking it may happen.

In other words they've given C5 the expendable flying when the pilot shortage dictates parking planes.
Park a 50 seater, or park the 76 seater.
as it worsens it will be; park the 76 seater or park the 160 seater.

LCC's are beginning to hire directly from the universities. There goes what little was left for regionals.

Get your time & get out fast.
If your looking to get in now; focus on any of the WO's like Endeavor, ENY,PSA, PDT, and Horizon. The rest, including Skywest, Republic & Mesa will soon begin contracting which means stagnation until they reach a point where hiring can sustain the size.
Places like Gojet will be in big trouble. This includes C5 and Air Wiskey if their business model doesn't change big time.

I wonder how many will be pure replacement of planes that will be retired? And how many will be true increases in the number in their fleet?

I was replying to your post about new planes being several years away. The deliveries that I listed are already on the books and are starting to be delivered. The first Max8 shows up un July. The rumored order will be additional aircraft to those. The point is that United has an aggressive delivery schedule without taking into consideration this new order and they will be able to change the UAL/UAX mix if they decide to. They have also announced plans to aggressively hire more pilots than they ever have. You’re probably right about C5 not getting 70 seat jets. I seriously doubt that United will add a new SNB to the fleet, so UAX is currently maxed out on 70/76 seat jets. Some of the new planes will be for growth, some replacements for older mainline aircraft, and some for the replacement of phased out regional lift. Only the top management knows the plan.

100 single class 50 seaters will remain….which carrier will operate them? I wonder if a more detailed phase out plan/potential carrier closer (s) will be announced soon?

Quote: Prior to COVID, C5 couldn’t handle the flying they had. XJT was going to start getting C5 flying after they absorbed the TSA flying. Then COVID changed everything and UAL took advantage of the situation to kill off the expensive XJT.

However it appears C5 is already having trouble staffing for the size UAL planned for it. GoJet is also having trouble staffing.

The hiring floodgates are opening up everywhere and will soon be more robust than pre-COVID. Very little reason to go to C5 or GoJet now and those already there will be moving on rapidly.

C5 performance will continue to go downhill. Grab some popcorn.
oh lord. Please tell me you’re not the joe merchant from the crack pipe

Gross. Had to block him on Facebook for vomiting on literally every XJT ASA post and making it all about him and his issues. Made a sport of being a prick.
