Can you blame some people? These airplanes are coming from someone else. This isn't additional flying for United.

But yes, it is a good deal for CommutAir.

Well, they aren't getting all 40 at once. And they will also be retiring the Dash over the next few years (I think, I could be wrong. Thought someone from there said that somewhere on here). Great news for those on property. I'm hoping you guys get an improved contract and some pay/qol bumps. And also just to add, an interview of any kind is not a flow. I know UA is not AA or Delta, but both of those companies have manipulated preferential interviews to their gain in the past. Needing a degree kind of sucks (I've actually run into WAY more pilots than I ever thought I would that don't have degrees) as does having to do that Hogan test. But you have the only clear(isn) path to UA at the moment and growth on the near horizon. If I were a prospective applicant looking at which regionals to go to, and I had my sights set on UA, I would give this a serious look.

They are no longer doing the 737 sim. They stopped that a few months ago.

IMO, until pay is on par with other similar size FFD airlines and flow is kicker non of these flow deals will be as effective as they need to be.

Sorry for the slight thread deviation
No delusion here. You might be a bit forgetful though or possibly in denial. A couple of months ago, your MEC made suggestions to your management on how to attract pilots from other regionals to come to Envoy by proposing a lateral pay scheme for transferring pilots. The only reason this was contemplated is that the regional industry has a new-hire pilot shortage which is deepening and Envoy in particular was feeling that pinch. Absent that, there would be no need to propose a scheme to give Envoy new-hires more money to come to Envoy then past new-hires, nor negotiate a scheme to assist management in carrying their water in this fashion but NOT also negotiate improvements for current Envoy pilots.

In the more distant past, your MEC rejected new-hire only pay alterations only, but in the recent past, embraced essentially the same thing, just in different format. It is poaching because, if successful, other carriers would become weaker by the same specifics as they would be the ones losing pilots with insufficient numbers to replace and thus Envoy's MEC win becomes another pilot groups loss. Of course, it's clear the new generation of pilots seems to accept the regionals in becoming a cannibalistic existence, but unfortunately (and inevitably) a winner of today can easily become a loser of tomorrow, but many don't understand that.

Still, even with recognizing all that, it sadly appears the concurrent philosophies of "do unto others and then split" and "get yours and get out" will continue to rule the regional pilot ranks and so this segment of the professions destiny is assured. As more and more regional pilots transition to the Legacies in the coming years, that too will spread there and in fact already exists in many ways. The pilots "doing unto others" though will be the senior old-timers in their late 50's and 60's with one foot out the door getting their last grab before retirement and so the winners at many regionals today will be the losers at some legacies tomorrow. Bank on it.

In the interim, good luck with your impending satellite base concession without a corresponding RSV section correction. That is simply another symptom of the same diease that continues to run untreated.

You think C5 will still offer a strong contract now that a flow and jets are coming? I've noticed in the past that management will offer new planes in exchange for concessions...

We just received an email from our union with details on the TA. From what I see, zero concessions, and gains in pretty much every area.

You shouldn't hate on your own.... I think he was just curious to see if C5 was going to take concessions to get new flying like some other airlines have. Pay is going up, healthcare costs are going down and better work rules. No concessions here.

Why would I hate? This is great news for C5.
