If your SYR based why would you worry about having an overnight in EWR? Company is gonna get you a hotel. If your EWR based there's a ton of crash pads. Best advice ask your friends where they are based then ask what they do? Perhaps if they have a place you can pay them to crash on their couch. A simple phone conversation is going to give more information that random strangers on the Internet. Feel free to PM me if you'd like as well.
