Who needs vacation anyways? Trip drops are for communists. Think of how well your Delta interview will go when you tell them you never work less than 85 hours. Thanks Compass. Compass Airlines, Adequately Staffed Since 2016

Go to CPZ ALPA website, communications committee page, you can download a recording of
the call.

Too true. We aren’t staffed until we can get 75 hours lines if we choose. Over 50% of the list forced 95 hours is not staffed properly.

Hitting the line soon and just wondering-- how often do you all on reserve get minimum notice of a trip assignment? Or should I ask, what's a typical notice for a trip assignment?

2 hour call out is the minimum and it really depends. Sometime it never happens and sometimes it happens everyday. Just depends on what's going on. For example this week has been a cluster and I've only been getting 2 hour call outs that end up having an airplane delayed waiting for the whole crew. If you're trying to see if you can push the 2 hour window for a commute, it's a stretch. And there are plenty of ghost stories about certain chiefs waiting for you at the gate at the 2 hour mark. I can't imagine reserve is that long for a new hire so you may have to bite the bullet and get a crash pad. There's some good ones out there, just ask around. Good way to meet mainline pilots too.

Meh...when I was at CP, I did short call reserve from home at SMF. Can be a bit stressful, but life happens. Worst was eating at Chik fil the with family and the phone rings...

I’m not flying in to reserve but the drive with LA traffic can really push it sometimes. With minimal traffic, it’s only a 45 minute drive but at rush hour you can add an hour just for the parking lot. Just wondering what my options are — thanks.

For what it’s worth I have the same drive without traffic. 55 Miles, 1.5 hours was standard with rush hour. So I would always bid for RAP 1 (begins at 4am). If I got a 2hr call it was right at 4am and I had no traffic.
I’d drive a little closer to the airport during rush hour, and get breakfast then go home.
If traffic was worse than usual then that’s the way life is. I figured I could explain that there was an accident or whatever that made the drive longer.

In LA you could littleraly be sitting in Marina Del Ray, 20 minutes away and not make 2hrs if there was rush hour and an accident.

I just tried to be reasonable. Ready to go if they called, car packed.
Don’t beat yourself up over it.
