All I will add is if you are picking up extra flying be aware of the recent change in pay rules, if you are picking up flying from open-time or flying from the trade board it will pay above guarantee even when on reserve. It use to only go above guarantee if it was from open time. If you are going to pick up extra flying think about helping out a fellow pilot and looking at a one-way trade first!

It’s only paid above guarantee if it’s picked up on an awarded day off, though, correct?

For reserve pilots yes. If you’re a line holder it all goes to your monthly credit, if you do a one for one trade you take whatever the other trips credit is. At least how I understand. Smarter people can correct me though.

This will slow movement and drastically reduce quality of life and days off at any seniority level. If we don’t grieve it with the Union then nothing will change. We uphold our end of the contract and face discipline if we didn’t, they should uphold their end.

That so called pool of people wanting to come here does not exist anymore. Since they stopped the bonus that pool had dried up. Classes are being combined because they don’t have enough for single classes.

Who lets a 17,000 signing bonus paid out over a year determine whether or not they come here? That decision should be based off of upgrade time, bases, stability, and QOL, nothing more. Not that I blame them. I’m neck deep in compass and I’m still losing sleep over 2020.

Don't lose sleep. Wear it like a badge of honor. You're not a real airline pilot until you have your company shut down anyway.

Great:D

Off topic, is there a way to get a more commutable reserve schedule? 2 days off between 5 day blocks is getting me like 30 hours at home per week

Piggyback on this. Is it allowed to have 1 day off between 2 reserve stretches. I have a stretch ending on the 29th. Off the 30th. Then have to be back on the 1st for another stretch of days.

they have to schedule you 2 days off between work blocks unless you wave it. you can do up to 6 reserve days in a row. when I was on reserve and commuting cross country I would almost always try to do six day on then three or four days off. If that didn't work out I would do 5 on 1 off 3-4 on and then like 5 off. It would mean spending a day off in the crashpad but would get me a longer group of days off after.

Is there a way to bid for this?
