Been off the radar for a while but heard someone talking the other day of Phx closing in December. Is this old news?

Wouldn't shock me. The base serves zero purpose operationally. AA isn't going to give us flying out of there. It was a recruiting tool that kinda sorta worked. Would not be shocked to see a transition to just LAX and SEA.

Wouldn’t surprise me except it’s still a mx base and they like having crews there for runups and such. But then again Sjc isn’t a base. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 2 years tho. Crew bases have to be open for 2 years per our Cba. So... phx has awhile yet, it’s only been 8, maybe 9 months.

What do you say to scheduling or a management person when they tell you to assist in a run up? It's good to share for everyone to be on the same page here if we should not be doing run ups.

Let's discuss. We don't have any procedures for it, and it's not outlined in the contract.

Good question for the MEC on the next all call perhaps?

1. A Pilot reporting for or performing a taxi movement in which an aircraft first moves under its own power for purposes other than flight and ending when the aircraft returns to its original position or its newly relocated position (including in-the-blocks engine run-ups) shall receive the greater of fifteen (15) minutes or the actual taxi time. This pay and credit will be paid above BSTG.
2. Nothing in this Agreement shall prohibit the Company from assigning personnel other than Pilots to taxi aircraft.
3. A taxi movement by a Ready Reserve Pilot in his Domicile does not constitute an assignment which entitles the Pilot to a rest period.
4. A Pilot who is on duty is required to conduct a taxi movement when asked by the Company, except that the Pilot may decline such an assignment if the requested taxi movement is to be performed after the completion of the last Flight of a Pairing. This provision does not supersede a Captain’s authority with respect to safety determinations.
Emphasis is mine. I wish I could say we didn't have to do engine runups, but alas...2. Nothing in this Agreement shall prohibit the Company from assigning personnel other than Pilots to taxi aircraft.

It's not all bad though. If you do it on reserve, ready reserve, or if you're below guarantee, you actually get the pay above guarantee. Obviously if you're above guarantee you see the pay regardless. Buys (part of) the lunch you had to miss to do it.
