Thanks! Just put in for November ATP/CTP with Nov 14th orientation. Timing is perfect for me.

Would one of you guys with a family/kids give me an idea of what Compass medical benefits cost monthly and what you get for the money? PM me if this is something that you don’t want published on the open forum.

Thanks again fellas.

Looking to do my jumpseat observation flights in a week or so.

Anyone have any recommendations for a 4 (or more) leg flight starting in Phoenix?

I was thinking of going PHX to LAX, but I'm not sure where I'd end up after. Thoughts?

Try that early morning PHX-LAX. Then a LAX-SAN turn and finish it off with an LAX-PHX. Be home by dinner.

Reserve the jumpseat if you plan to do this as these routes are all full of commuters... if you could do PHX-SLC-ABQ-SLC-PHX it might be more calm...

I would not recommend doing a SAN turn for observations. yes its a short flight and most guys just want to get them done with but the whole point of the observations is to learn a little bit. SAN is so short that you won't even catch half of what is going on and you won't have any time to ask questions. take a flight over to LAX and then do LAS or SJC or SMF. they are all about an hour flight and you will have a little more time to see things and ask question and still make it back to PHX the same day.

Seriously, the hardest transition for newbies is understanding the PACE of jet ops. Don’t think about this as just something to check off the list, try to actually get something out of the experience. Yes, you almost certainly will get type-rated regardless, but appropriate experience will expedite your transition to being a real positive to the other person in the cockpit who can handle a reasonable share of the workload rather than just someone to be there in an emergency like Otto...

Alright, looking at doing PHX-SLC-DEN-LAX-PHX

Will take the entire day, but that doesn't really matter to me.

Any thoughts on that route? Couple longer legs and still some busier airspace.

Looks good - but if you want to shorten it a bit, maybe try the return to SLC after DEN. Not much benefit to watching the crew put their feet up for an hour in cruise but exposure to LAX is always good.
