I’m not going to argue whether or not compass was going to close or not prior to COVID, because most people stating compass was closing prior to COVID didn’t work at compass and never did. Honestly it’s pretty disrespectful in my opinion to state anything other than condolences for the shop closing, or nothing at all. As BLS said, being junior at any place right now isn’t exactly great either. Just remember companies have to survive financially through this mess, it’s not as simple as bringing back all the parked airplanes.

This x100. Been seeing things from multiple people that were never in the Compass email directory saying how we were closing long before the Rona.

I was unaware that Compass hired 95% of their employees in their last two weeks. That's an incredible training department that should pass along their secrets to bigger airlines! I'm sure they'd be well rewarded for it.

Do not want to give false hope, but I am optimistic in the next few weeks. I am hoping the domestic market will start to reopen under a "new normal".
With the following treatments: Mass production of rapid CV testing and antibody testing; Chloroquine; Remesdevir; vaccine (10-14 months away? Few trials/study out there, such as moderna and UPMC).
Prior to vaccine, "new normal" will have non essential folks returning to work with the above treatments/tests available. Folks will know if they have the antibody or not. Everyone will have face masks if unable to maintain social distance. Temperature taken at airports. Hopefully the cruise ships will be back on scheduled and will have rapid testing/temperature taken onboard for guests. Anyone testing positive, will self quarantine and if needed, will be given antibody treatment.
This will be important for small business and airlines. Airplanes may not be full but not empty. Airlines may return to an increase schedule but not a normal schedule. Hopefully airlines will dramatically reduce their daily cash burn after the CARE act expires Sept 30. With early out packages/retirements and somewhat increase in pax, i am hoping for no furlough.
Once the above treatments is available globally, international travel will return. Not fully, but just hoping the airlines can stop burning cash.
10-14 months, a sucessful vaccine will hopefully be available.(Emergency loosening of FDA regulatory guidelines) This will hopefully be a boost to our economy and our careers. Back to normal by late summer/fall 2021.
It's never great time to not just get furlough, but to not have a company to return to. Frustrating now, when theres so much folks trying to get unemployment. I know there's also the sleepless nights. Many of us were there. Most of us unsure what the next few weeks hold.
Just want my fellow ALPA colleagues know theres hope in the next few weeks and hopefully the majors may not furlough.
I would plan for the worst, but am being optimistic. I have deferred my mortgage and some personal loan for the next 3 months to reduce expenses since it's available due to CARE act. We are all taking this a day at a time. June, I am hoping more information will be available, and our faith in october will be known.
Just want to give everyone a bit of hope during this crappy time. Hopefully ALPA will prevail with future job placement, as the airines resume hiring.

Any luck with unemployment? Mine was denied today but I also noticed it says it can take up to 10 days from the time you certify your hours not 10 days from when you first make a claim. I certified my hours 6 days ago, so I’m going to wait a few more days then start to make some phone calls.

France published a study saying not only does this not have any significant effect on covid but that it may increase heart problems in people that take it. Likewise other experts around the globe are trying to steer people away from this.
Your vision is a little too optimistic, I don't see anything you said happening anytime soon.
