The new vacancy that came out last night didn't include any FO positions. Maybe they're finally catching up? Still looking for that west coast base (or SLC) announcement. I listened to the conference call as well and it sounds like it's coming.

What was said that made it sound like that? You can PM if you don't want to post it.

Well interesting in the fact that they have given ATPs and PIC types since day 1. Way before the rule started. Like I said it is in the contract. Only 7 were hired back in the day with less than ATP mins.

understand and appreciate the fact that Compass has "given ATPs and PIC types since day 1".....what I don't understand is why a highly experienced (ATP qual, jet PIC typed, turbo prop & turbo jet exp, TPIC) age 21/22 pilot is currently excluded by some airlines based solely on R-ATP that is "age limited" only.....something airlines should review and consider.

Do you have access to the Nov Conference call posted on the Intranet? Listen starting at about 19:50 through about 24:00. It sounds like he's softening the blow of an announcement. He doesn't come out and say anything specific but that he will have a decision made within the next week or so. They're obviously seriously considering it and have done research and analysis of opening a new base geared toward the west coast operations.

will age 21 pilot with 1800 TT, 1000 multi, 800 turbojet, 200 TPIC, turbo jet PIC type, R-ATP, be considered for Compass FO position?

That's pretty impressive to me at least, I had hardly even seen a 172 at the age of 21. If it is possible to talk to someone at a job fair im sure you would get their attention.

That's one way for a vacancy to work unless the airline is adding FO positions. The vacancy last night included 6 captain upgrade spots with no FOs to fill the upgrading FOs.

I believe the last vacancy bid didn't have any new FO positions listed, but new hires filled the slots that the upgrading FO's vacated. There are classes running right now, and the FO openings come from where the upgrading FO's leave from.

Either way, my money is a 30-40 crew SFO base, with no bases closing.

I am thinking a Salt Lake base ;)

Even better, way cheaper to live in. Not that I am going to bid it.

Hey, careful now. You might butt heads with a SkyBest pilot with that statement. They would LOVE to see our shiny E-Jets in SLC before theirs :D

Will the continued hiring out the FO side fat on pilots then? How many more upgrades are planned for this wave of flows?

Somebody did the math that there have been 24 awarded so far...another bid for 6 came out today (for February bidding). So that would be 30 as of right now. The estimates I have heard is from 115 to 140 captain upgrades are planned total to be done through the spring/summer.
