The check-in system allows even the most junior PSA pilot to potentially get ahead of the most senior AA pilots. Check in right at 24 hours to the exact second before your flight and you're top of the non-rev list. Usually, at least 5-6 non-revs can get on a flight that's full and oversold due to misconnects. Not every flight is full and over sold. But you always have good jumpseat priority if you don't get a seat in the back. I'm always bumping other pilots of the jumpseat due to my wholly-owned status.
That logic might be just a little flawed...
Eventually the misconnecting passengers have to get where they are going. That mean more over sales on later flights and revenue standby passengers. If there are growing pains, AMR will figure it out to maximize revenue.
What happens if you are listed LAX-DFW-CLT. Will your DFW-CLT check in time go from your original -24 hours from LAX-DFW?
