SLC would work but it won't be very large, although it doesn't have to be since CPZ is a small carrier. Just keep in mind SkyWest has a contract with Delta through 2020 that requires at least 85% of the DCI departures in SLC to operate by SkyWest Airlines. In all there are about 645ish departures a day out of SLC with SkyWest operating around 200ish of them. And not all of the 200ish departures are for Delta, some of these flights are for our other codeshares (US, AA , UA, AS) and many are SkyWest branded operations (at-risk). I'd estimate there are only around 140ish DCI departures which means other DCI carriers can only operate around 20-25 departures out of SLC. That's not many and I’m not sure if that’s enough to warrant a domicile. Especially since XJT (ASA) and 9E will flow out there as well and take some of these slots.

You guys will have more departures out of LAX and SEA, why do you think you will have more out of SLC?

Careful there...you're treading on SKW territory and they're very territorial New guy comes to town and they freak out a little bit.
I don't think anyone is a threat to the beloved SLC and the SKW base domination any time soon. Seeing that Delta has left SLC to SKW for this long there's probably not much of a chance that it will change drastically like it has at other DCI bases, e.g.. MSP, DTW, etc.

So SKW can open a base in MSP but CPZ can't open one in SLC? It would work well to tie together CPZ's east and west ops. Just playing devil' advocate here, I don't think another base will open unless DTW closes....which is possible.

That was my point in a round-about-kind-of-way. I was being sarcastic. SKW came barreling into MSP a few years ago... into a base that was mostly made up of XJ and 9E. Then the second anyone on here mentions the possibility of a new DCI base in SLC *gasp!* a SKW person gets super defensive and has to remind everyone how they OWN Salt Lake City.
We're all pawn in the DCI system. SKW has just been lucky to have been left alone in SLC....for the most part.

As long as our ships are guaranteed I could care less if they operate out of LAX, SLC, MSP, DTW or wherever else. But keep in mind my numbers from my other posting were pulled from off-peak schedules so they’re on the low side. Peak-Season would see increases of 20-25% which means other DIC carriers could operate 24-30 flights. Lol Regardless, until 2020 SkyWest will operate at least 85% of Delta’s codeshare departures out of SLC. I highly doubt Delta’s concerned with SkyWest operating such a high %age out of one of their smallest markets.
Also note that SkyWest is still highly profitable and since DCI only accounts for about 30% of our flying, a rate reset won't be as dramatic as many pilots think.
