Travel Benefits

So how does the "parents get flight benefits, too" program work at Compass? Is it so low in seniority that it shouldn't really be offered? What do they pay to fly?

Is the same sort of thing offered at Endeavor?

For both, can they only travel on Delta?

They pay a yield fare between $0.02 - $0.04 a mile and do in fact have a lower priority. I think that is pretty standard among DCI carriers, except Endeavor and maybe SkyWest. Not sure what we will get from American, but i have been told non-wholly owned American Eagle carriers do not get worthwhile travel benefits (see RAH)

Not sure what Endeavor has.

Endeavor is basically the same for parents.

Parents fly for free on Endeavor.

Parents won't get AA benefits on their current program. You will have to pay a segment fee and list via MyIDtravel, then your local pass bureau will have to ticket it. You wont have access to check loads. Yes, non wholly-owned AA benefits are next to worthless. It's easier to just jumpseat.

Sorry for the misinformation. My parents only use passes internationally and I forgot domestic was free now for parents.

Wrong again!! Parents fly free at Endeavor Domestic and International. They do (like everyone else) pay the international tax getting back into the U.S.

When does the 12 month, prorated training contract officially start for a new hire at Compass?

It starts the day you finish your LOE

Can I get a solid first year salary (after taxes) guesstimate for both Compass and Endeavor at 75hr min pay for budget planning purposes, please? (I've heard of adding the three zeros, but I figure that's before tax, right?) For the kind person who answers from Endeavor, please apply the fat tax on the $20k bonus, too. Thanks guys

Everyone's tax will be different. Almost 50k before tax at Endeavor.

Why can't you use a tax estimator? You're asking others to do that for you, while you know your exact situation (state, other income, etc.)

If you have 0 121 time, you are probably better off going to Endeavor. Too many variables exist right now to say either one will be better. If you have 1000 121 or 135 time, then Compass.

Go to Endeavor. $26/hr x75= $1950/mo + 400 per diem/mo + $20,000 in bonus /yr = $48,200 before taxes @75/hr guarantee. Interview with Delta/SSp for FOs as well. Upgrade will pick up as attrition continues.

Sorry, I fat-fingered that. I completely meant to say before taxes.
Thanks for the responses. I'm essentially a zero 121 guy (min military PIC time). Any Compass folks able to chime in? Thanks again

I'm holding MSP one month after IOE at Compass. So much movement in MSP right now that you could get it almost right out of training. For take home pay adding three zeroes to hourly is exactly what I'm making on first year FO pay after tax.
I'd say the only place that Endeavor has Compass beat is pay, and that won't last forever. You will have seniority quickly at Compass. Lifers almost do not exist here.

However, those starting with 0 121 time will have a lot of junior pilots to them upgrading at Compass. Meaning their upgrade time will actually increase due to it.

I'm Compass, but Endeavor might actually be your best bet unless Compass raises all of our pay and gives us a real pathway to a major. Endeavor is done shrinking for now since it can staff and pays more reasonably.

Compass ain't ever gonna grow. Delta is going to start pulling your Ejets away real soon. Pinnacle tried new ventures and got erased. Compass will be next.

Compass is one of the cheapest carriers because of it's junior pilot group. Why would Delta give that up again? And just an FYI Compass IS growing right now at 2-3 planes per month through November.

My comment is me flipping the script on the absolute moronic imbecile 404, whose divinity dictates the end of other regionals.

TheFly 05-24-2015 04:33 PM

SkyWest would be a good option for MSP as well as Compass. However, I have heard that Compass might be downsizing MSP.

At Compass we've been told that MSP is staffed properly at the moment. No more planned (at least publicly) shrinkage. LAX is seeing a few junior guys sucked up in to the SEA base but no displacements out of MSP. The majority of the Delta flows are coming out of MSP so there will be quite a bit of movement this summer and early fall. Then it will settle back down unless attrition picks up.
