My wife is National Guard, we won't need insurance for at least 3 more years thanks to tricare reserve

The super fast upgrades are closing out. With your LOS at ENY, is stay put. With guard flying experience, you'll be at a major in no time.

I'm in a very similar situation so I appreciate you asking the question with this detail. One question I have is why not XJT? They have have a DFW base that is supposedly junior to get right out of training. I have been leaning toward XJT because of this and I'm worried about Envoy collapsing completely. Sorry for the potential hijack....

I'd go with Compass if moving was an option, but since it's not for you, and at the expense of sounding like a Mesa cheerleader, I would either go to Mesa or stay at Envoy, live in base, and drive to work. Ever since the AA/US merger the trend for Mesa has been moving resources toward DFW, even relocating the training department out there. It will be the largest base at Mesa (for now) and you won't have to sit reserve for long unless you bid for it.
Something else to think about...your spouse has a difficult road ahead with nursing school and her guard commitment. It would be better to be around home. Commuting will eat up a lot of extra time that could be spent helping out around the house. I realize that commuting is inevitable at some point, especially with the way the majors yank the regionals in and out of different domiciles, but at least you could be at home for now.
Lastly, I wouldn't get too hung up on flight benefits. Those are subject to change at the whim of the majors and could completely go away at some point and the regionals would have zero leverage in that game.

All great pointers thanks guys. The flight benefits don't matter to much, but my wife uses them all the time to see her family. Envoy let us keep them while we were on active duty. Fishforfun, xjt I think is in more long term trouble than Envoy is. Just my personal opinion. They have been a financial weight around skywest's neck since they bought them. Skywest was one of the only airlines to lose money last year. Envoy at least has a flow, large aircraft coming, and a parent owned company with deep pockets. Xjt has no flow, no large aircraft coming, and with them being owned by another regional I think xjt could just as easily be shut down in the future. Both envoy and xjt have the worst upgrade times in the industry, both have longevity problems with lots of maxed out captains, and both fly old tired 145s with Xjt doing some 200 flying in DFW. I almost went there in 2011 but in the end I would still be stuck in the right seat had I gone there.
