TSA offers a reserve your seniority program for 90 days. Other regionals with cadet programs put cadets at the top of the new hire class seniority. Cadets can interview with much lower hours for a CJO contingent upon meeting the minimum hour requirements.
Mesa is paying for people to do CFI ($10,000), Republic is paying for 100 hours flight time.

Also if they raise the right seat CA option to 150-200% I'd respect the need to do it because you're given an opportunity to make more money - and it's a regional, you can't blame someone for wanting to get a few extra bucks to buy something nice for their wife and kids in exchange for them
slaving away on their days off.

Dude you could strap a wheel to each of my limbs and call me a catering cart for 500% captain pay!
Side note: FO reserves aren't flying much. 30-35 hours a month for me forenthe past several months. Also very inefficient trips. For example I'm on a 2 night trip with 3 dead heads only operating one flight. Senior FOs are showing 17 or 18 days off in some cases. I doubt anyone is going to have to right seat qualify when the company could easily increase their reserve efficiency and usage. Hell, let us pick trips up in OT..
